Oops, forgot to post yesterday. This will be my last post of the year, as I'll be out of the house enjoying NYE. I wish you all a good end to the year, and if that isn't happening I hope next year treats you better.
I'm really thankful for everyone that supports me here, more directly with patreon, but also everyone out there playing Battletech again. The game's revival has given CGL the funding needed to better support its artists, myself, my design and sculpt team, and the rest of the writers and illustrators freelancing for the company.
Don't let me forget to post something cool early January to kick off the 40th anniversary of Battletech!
Anyway, related to that, here's the Argus. I was going to post design sketches from Rec Guide 33 units, but thought I'd jump ahead of this one. Are you guys more interested in Star League pack mechs first, or seeing the concepts behind RG33?
I feel like this mech looked great from the start, both in MW4 and even decent in the original TRO art. The MW4 game manual sketch is the biggest stand out to me, so I started with that as a basis and went from there.
We finally had to give an official Argus depiction that acknowledges it carries a RAC, but I like the tank gun aesthetic so much that I made it a long rotary contained within a sleeve. The poor machinegun also had to be toned down haha, no longer looking like an AC2.
I'm looking forward to covering all the robust looking MW4 mechs, already quite a few in our queue.
