40th Anniversary Beginners Box

Sorry for the month long silence! I had my head down focused on remembering how to do large complex illustrations for the first time in several years haha.
A newsletter email went out a few days ago announcing some of CGL's plans for the 40th anniversary of Battletech next year, including anniversary editions of the Beginners and A Game of Armored Combat boxes. I may be jumping the gun a bit here, but the cropped griffin was shown in a thumbnail, so what's more about showing off the background? :)
That said, as usual, keep this one private here on Patreon for now. If I don't anger any bosses I'll have an even cooler one to show off later.

The keen of you may have noticed that after all these years of new minis, box sets, and the revival of Battletech, I've yet to have my art on one of our retail boxes. It was planned several times but I always ended up too busy with the miniatures design side so the box art went to Marco or Alex.
This time I was promised I'd get some box art, and they'd be the 40th anniversary covers, so that was a fun proposition.
It had been 3 years since I did my last full color mech illustration (the two red dragoon marauders on the moon) and muuuuch longer since I've done more complex backgrounds, so I had a lot of rust to shake off. Eventually I got into my grove though, with much powering through.
I aimed to make this more colorful than my usual to help grab attention on a shelf (and hopefully your shelf at home too). I also really enjoy the older illustrations with little infantry everywhere with laser rifles firing, so I squeezed them in, though I didn't have the time to get in more fun quantities.
And crutch or not, I really enjoy background fires, so I really went in on it.

Anyway, what do you think of it? Are you excited for what we're going to cram into next year on top of the kickstarter delivery?
