Upcoming Variant Mechs

A few have asked, so here's a big render of all the upcoming mechs we've given variants or reposes. Haven't included the Dragoons box though.

This all comes from the announced Alpha Strike starter box and Mercenary Force Packs.
The Atlas, Banshee, Highlander, and Wolfhound are just re-poses, but can you ID the rest of them? Some are pretty tough.

Any of them stand out as variants you've wanted to run with new plastic? Or one you're glad to have a repose on to add variety to your bulk forces?
Image is public, enjoy!

Upcoming Variant Mechs

Comments

I thought this was the second Blackjack. Is there a Blackjack in one of the mercenary boxes?

Mike

Yes, please. And a gods-damned Swordsman. How CGL hasn't asked a guy named Shimmering Sword to breath new life into a mech called a Swordsman is beyond me....

Jarod DePastene

Yeah. Seems like an odd choice to me. Not really complaining, as it's great to get anything new!

Andrew Wiesner

They'll have a clear peg like the Shilone. A Scorpion does not fit on a base at all, and the Goliath does but only barely. Players will then be able to choose if they want to use a base or not, and how they wish to base it.

Anthony Scroggins

Just another thing where I'm not sure if the bosses know what people want or not. Certainly weird to give a mech 3rd or 4th plastics before prominent mechs get a second. But hey, at least it's a workhorse mech that isn't totally out of place.

Anthony Scroggins

I hope we can see the Whitworth soon!

Robert Moore

That matches what I heard, and also that without those copies, the box wouldn't have been greenlit

Malintus

Whoa! I didn't know they would work both ways. Anthony, do you expect us to have to choose jumping/no jumping? Or will we easily be able to switch between the two? I guess it might need a separate base.

Andrew Wiesner

The two quad mechs aren't in the photo, but I have a question about them. Someone from Kerensky Con said the quads would have a supporting peg underneath the mech. Is that really true? It seems like four legs should be sufficient to support the mini. But maybe not.

Andrew Wiesner

No offense meant for those who love the Blackjack, but it's interesting that we're getting a THIRD version of this mech. I think two Blackjacks would probably be sufficient for most if it meant we could get a variant from another chassis.

Andrew Wiesner

Eventually, they're in the to-do-queue.

Anthony Scroggins

Like Mal says, the Timby and Nova will be same mold as the KS ones. Warhammer and Phoenix Hawk I believe are the two unchanged on the IS side. But I'm rusty on that info.

Anthony Scroggins

They are designed to work both ways, but I'm still waiting to see a prototype example in the non jumping mode.

Anthony Scroggins

Yep I was pretty unhappy about it. At least the AS Box timby is a re-used mold, same pose as the KS timby, so no extra cost outlaid.

Anthony Scroggins

No, the Black Hawk (Nova) and Mad Cat (Timber wolf) are confirmed as copies of the variant and stance from the CI box set, the Adder is actually a Pouncer.

Malintus

Can we get a group shot of the new mechs in the merc packs? Love the gunslinger and pentrator

Mark D Booth

Are the adder and mad cat in the Alpha Strike box gonna be variations as well?

James Bixby

Realizing the Blackjack is the BJ-3 has me squealing with joy. The 1 and 2 has charm, but sometimes you wanna slap someone upside the head on the cheap

James Bixby

Is the plan to still make the jumping 'Mechs in such a way that they can be mounted with or without the jumpjet plume? I know some folks dig it, which is totally cool, but having done Space Marines and Star Wars Legion jump troops, I just like them to be on the base and not "in the air".

Brian Sausley

Peeper-Plut, Jumping Crusader, a third Blackjack and more. This is a very interesting collection that's going to make for some interesting work

Alex F

Soooooooooooo many of these I'm looking forward to, but it's the Catapult I want most (for obvious reasons).

Kanrei13

Great photo. Thanks! And I second your comment about too many Timber Wolf minis. The one variant we have now isn't that different visually. Right now we have three (Clan Invasion box, Aidan Pryde Legends, Wolf's Dragoons) and the loadouts look identical from the front. Yet another reposed Timber Wolf (in the Alpha Strike box) reallys seems like overkill.

Andrew Wiesner

Good chance of IWM getting to that eventually.

Anthony Scroggins

Any chances of getting a royal Griffin 2N at some point? I'd love to get those dual missile pods on the table and I'm not skilled or confident enough to butcher my minis to make it happen

You're still right, I messed up and only included one of the two upcoming Atlas. The AS Box Atlas has the rear SRM and a relaxed pose. The one shown here goes in HRR Merc Box with its braced pose.

Anthony Scroggins

Sad to hear the Atlas is a repose rather than a variant, the wording on the news announcement listing out the contents for the new AS box had me certain it was a true variant, and I kept thinking it was one of those with SRMS replacing the rear medium lasers based off what little I could see of the print preview form Kerenskycon.
