Starslayer 3D Sculpt
Added 2021-11-23 07:04:39 +0000 UTCDid you see this one coming? Not my first choice for a mech to be redesigned, but I'd drawn one waaay back for CGL and I can appreciate that it brings a unique kind of ugly to the game haha.
I assigned Harri Kallio to redesign this one, and Alan Blackwell to sculpt it, while I made touch ups to both along the way.

I decided to go big and make a diorama. I used plaster to make a valley where a star slayer and wolfhound were starring down the barrels of a Timber Wolf and Mad Dog, with Elementals closing from the flanks. I ended up winning first place for my age category, and it was the first thing I ever won. It started a life long obsession, hobby, and love of battletech lol

It just needed a bit of tightening and refinement. This appears to be just exactly that, and I appreciate how it leans heavily into that original while still bringing it up to the modern standards. Love it!

2021-11-23 14:10:54 +0000 UTCI can't say I really ran it before - mainly because I wasn't aware of it - but looking at it now, I definitely will when we get a mini for it. I am willing to bet that there a lot of 'Mechs with old, wonky art whos aesthetic probably lead to them not seeing the tabletop, even if their stats were good. After getting the magic touch from the likes of Alan, Harri and the rest of your very talented team of artists we are seeing a lot of these 'Mechs getting play.
