Bushwacker Concept Sketch

Here's a favorite of many I think, particularly the crowd that grew up on MW3 and MW4.

The Bushwacker has always had a pretty clean shape that quickly starts to break apart if you change too much about it, so I didn't aim to reinvent the wheel here.

The one thing I did stray from on the classic look is going for the MW4 style shoulder launcher. The old X shape is fairly distinct, but also fairly questionable haha. What do you think?

This mech is also one of my picks for not going to crazy on the shapes so that we have a bottom level baseline for our range of detail levels.

Beautiful! I'm sure it's too late by now, but my only suggestion would be to make the ER large laser a little bit longer. On the original model it felt like the main gun. Like the cannon on an A-10 Warthog. I don't know why they couldn't fit it inside of the ridiculously long torso, but I loved it. Your design is aces though.

Ben

Man, so many good backward-leg mechs, kind of wish the Jenner had been redesigned. Though maybe I would miss the current design.

Mike

This is just plain wonderful. I adore the BSW, and this is hands-down, the best version of it. Well done. Very VERY well done. :)

Jarod DePastene

I am all kinds of confused. I Love the MW3/4/O bushwhackers... I I love this design. There are so many cool things from each design, and it really feels like you have done an awesome job of taking the best parts of all of them, and making it something new. Only feeback I would have (that I am not even all that confident in) is perhaps take a pass with the machineguns moved farther back in the nose - to see what it would look like with the large laser sticking out there and being its bad self?

Nice - I love the AC arm. Fun to see. This one stays wonderfully true to the original. Great job.]

Brent Evans

can we see the Axman next? and can it please please please be the 2N "Adam Steiner" Model???

James Bixby

look at it this way. Axman, Centurion, Wolfhound, Bushwhacker? we are one Mauler short of the First Somerset Strikers!!!

James Bixby

Well well well.... I was not thrilled about the Bushwacker being added to the kickstarter because my feelings were that it already has an excellent sculpt... This art is wonderful and I am now glad it was added. Especially considering how many people are going to want to pick it up because they recognize it.

I really quite like the Triangular Missile tubes, it makes them fit in better.

Dumb though it was I loved the X Shape. as a compromise I would do a Square launcher box with the tubes in an X Formation

James Bixby

Nah not a casting issue, the Bushy has always been such a sleek geometric design so I thought the MW4 launcher matched that much more stylistically.

Anthony Scroggins

I'd keep the X, personally, especially if the missile tubes can match those in the arm and it's just the housing that's odd. Is it a casting issue? The rest looks fantastic. I was never really a fan, but this image has turned me into one.

Carlos Sempere

I agree, I’m a very visual person and did not like the old sculpt so much I wouldn’t ever purchase it or use it. This new one is great and I’d definitely field this.

Dan Hegarty

Not sure if those things are very "bushwacker" though.

Anthony Scroggins

that sounds like it would work, replicate the arm on the shoulder, or have a square frame with the missiles in an X config?

James Abbot-Cole

I like that you've kept pretty much the original look of the Bushwacker (which was always an excellent-looking, iconic mech) and just tweaked things, upped the detail, etc. I don't *personally* have a problem with the updated missile launcher, but the X is part of the iconic silhouette, so I don't imagine it's too "extra" to keep it. There are sillier things that have been done on mechs (see: the Atlas having a skull face).

Robert Schuster

You know, instead of the X, how about a circular missile launcher that kind of matches what the arm has going on? I'm just thinking that would make more sense from a design standpoint.

Yeah, I would prefer if it took more notes from MW3 on looks. I never honestly liked the asthetic for the MW4 designs.

Very good first draft. Nice utilitarian look, but I think it needs to be more sleek with clawed feet. The weapon cowlings in the center torso need to be smaller, perhaps more chin-turret like the Vulture II. Perhaps more finger-like claws on the right arm.

Trevor R.N.

Looks really cool. The old sculpt of the Bushwacker was really ugly as hell...this one is much more better and one i would love to field.

Henning Boessler

Hmm. Maybe a little too MW4 for me? The Torso is a but to smooth and homogeneous? For me part of the charm f the Wacker was it's slightly janky geometry. This is a pretty good start, but I hope the finish version feels a bit less vanilla. Also I know the AC is traditionally on the inside of the arm, but dang that has ALWAYS bugged the crab outta me there, lol. IDK if under-slung or outside would actually look better, but just feels so ... much like the stuck it inside JUST to be different and didn't think through how useless it made having a hand actuator? Also would love a little more bulk to the lower legs and feet. Well, wider (slightly) footpads, not bigger bulkier feet.

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

I've always loved the more utlitiarian look of the MW4 Bushwacker launcher. It just made more sense tham the X.

Raymond White

X or no X, that's a pretty good redesign.

Malintus

Very nice!

Danny

I like it.

Chris L

Very nice. Made it look more durable without losing the sleek shape.

Mitchell Berthelson

Perfect. Not bothered at all about losing the X, this one’s a winner.

David

Iconic Mech from MW3, MW4, and Mechommander ;)

Solid. Good work.

Jordan G Roberts

Haha, rest in peace.

Anthony Scroggins

Much Love here...but the X... thats sacred lol

For whatever if anything we loose on the X shaped launcher we gain in other details. I like it.
