2026-02-25 12:02:25 +0000 UTCI think another reason there's less philosophers and such nowadays coming up with these insane theories that turn out correct is that there's simply not as much for us to theorize on cause so much has already been proven, like the human mind can comprehend that the sun and earth exist in a dimension and can then ask themselves where everything is placed, how everything moves and interacts etc but any theories we could come up with nowadays needs access to like top notch astronomy equipment, like the theories we get today are about distant space that we can't even possibly comprehend without the right tools to be able to observe it so 99% of people never get the chance to come up with theories, it's kind of like the phrase "born too late to explore the earth but born too early to explore the universe", we're just born in a time where we don't really get to be the trailblazers of anything, that's always been something that makes me sad tbh God what is this show doing to me I never get this philosophical lol I'm more of an emotional type when it comes to diving into media, ig that's the sign of a well done first episode

He was put on house arrest by the catholic church on charges of blasphemy because he argued for the heliocentric (earth orbiting the sun) model of the universe. At the time the churches official view was that scripture says the earth is at the center and the sun orbits around it. So claiming otherwise would be to contradict god’s word. However, in 1992 the Catholic Church issued an apology and admitted Galileo was right. Unfortunately Galileo had already died on house arrest 350 years earlier.

They're referring to actual historical figures (Ptolemy, Aristarchus) and our astrology (Orion's belt) as well as the outmoded theory of the Earth being the center of the solar system. Which means the Church isn't some vague religious entity - it is literally the Catholic Church.

2026-02-03 00:35:29 +0000 UTCi will say, there are some things that are very obvious in retrospect, especially having the knowledge we have present time. for a show like orb, you have to really put yourselves in the characters shoes. these people have been told their whole lives that the earth is the center of the universe, and logically, if you follow the precedent and the way its being told to you, it makes sense. imagine if WE were suddenly told that the heliocentric model we follow now is wrong and that there was actually a whole other factor in play. even with modern day technology and ease of information sharing online, it would still be a shocking revelation and most people would have a hard time believing it. considering that, it's not farfetched that these people have never put all the pieces together, especially when you think about the time period they are in. (TLDR: dont fall victim to hindsight merchanting because we know how the universe works now)
