I just think season 2 was way more developed than season 1. Basically all I could feel in season 1 was the grim atmosphere and season 2 was lighthearted, emotional, scary and definitely Billy and Max added something very great to the vibe of the show.

i love steve sm he’s one of my favs but he’s NOT for nancy, nancy became a very independent woman and a badass, steve is the kind of bf who wants to protect nancy and think she needs protection while Jonathan knows she can handle herself and that shes strong so nancy likes that she doesn’t want someone who thinks she needs protection, nancy can protect both steve and jonathan also he made mistakes just like nancy, he didn’t care when barb went missing, the whole slut thing, and in this season he saw how she was not doing well bc of barb and instead of telling her oh lets go on a date alone or lets stay at home watch a movie, he insisted on going to the party where there is alcohol knowing how shes doing and left her there after their fight so idk why you guys are glazing him sm we all love steve but we can’t say he was perfect so saying shes for the streets just bc she hooked up with jonathan when they were broken up is crazy

Yo Carter made a great observation about the quips. A lot of people who didn't get to season 4 prefer season 1 over 2 and 3 but could never really articulate it. But I think carter just did. Carter obviously is only half way through but he's noticing it early. Season 1 had a grittiness that the series as a whole really doesn't go back to. Season 2 had a lot more commercial lightness. And its amplified in season 3 to a degree that puts people off and I think they really find the perfect balance in season 4. Im cool with the levity and the quips but there is def more jokes as the series goes on compared to season 1.

I've always been partial to Season 2 but hot take, Season 3 is my least favorite in several ways. There's something so fun and contagious about it and yet I find the other seasons to be more 'authentic' (probably not the right word) to the show. Season 3 is very entertaining but it's just how I felt when I ranked them afterwards. Season 4 is the best. :)

in my personal opinion steve at first was a douchebag(trying to sleep with nancy when at first she obviously wasn’t ready) and in the sense of the friends he had in szn 1, then barb goes missing and steve didn’t really care/concerned over his girlfriends friend, so then there comes jonathan he was able to actually help nancy try to find her friend and they went through the whole thing together in which she developed feelings which in the end she ignored so she stayed with steve but still felt emotional over the loss of her friend so she then went to jonathan the first guy who helped her

Carter's opinion is 100% valid. Each season has a different tone when it comes to the horror, mystery, campiness, etc. that the directors want to display. The Duffer Brothers take heavy inspiration from other popular 80s scary films. Season 1 takes inspiration from "E.T." with the kids discovering an unknown girl and taking her in, government lab secrecy, etc... Season 2 features the new Shadow Monster which is that type of cosmic horror seen in films like "The Thing"... Also took inspiration from Aliens with the "hive mind" concept... And I can't spoil S3 but it gives off a Blockbuster horror film vibe, a lot of sci-fi, inspo from The Blob, The Terminator, and so on... Very fun but at the same time grotesque season!!

Also, my favorite scene this episode has to be Eleven and Hopper’s conversation in the car. That moment really captures the heart of the show, the way these people who feel like outcasts or pushed aside by society, manage to find love and family in each other. Billy and Mrs. Wheeler’s scene was a close second tho....lots of hidden mommy issues waiting to be unpacked there 👀

Something about Season 1, compared to the later seasons, is that it feels more consistent, with really solid pacing and strong moments throughout. The later seasons reach higher peaks, but they also dip a bit lower at times. As the cast grows and the stakes get bigger, some characters and plots end up feeling underdeveloped since the writers aren’t always sure what to do with everyone. Still, those incredible peaks definitely carry the show and keep it entertaining, so i’m really excited to watch the rest with you guys. Definitely my fav reactions atm <3

Jonathan and Nancy have always made more sense to me. They just have more meaningful scenes together. I think a lot of people want Nancy to pick steve mainly caus he's one of their favourite characters. Nancy's allowed to not love Steve, it's the lack of communication from her that's the bad part. I felt the same way, season 4 nailed the super high-stakes build up of everything, and seasons 1 and 2 nailed the small town "scooby doo" mystery feel, 3 was kind of an awkward in between for me. Still enjoyed it though

I'd have to go with season 4 since it has the most memorable moments for me.
