Toga is definitely an interesting character. She plays the pyscho well. But, yeah, I would say she isn't one of my favorite villains. Mirko still looks epic with her new arm and leg. I really hope nothing happens to her. I like the argument with her and Bakugo. I am curious to see how long this battle lasts or if there is another break before the final battle or if this is the final battle and it will just go on for two seasons.

My take on the whole Toga situation is that you can dislike her, like her or just not care for her. It can go either way, your opinion on her is up to you at the end of the day. You guys don’t have to force yourselves to like her just cause others in the comments do. Toga for me personally is an alright villain, I neither like her nor dislike her. She’s just one of the villains/bad guys that has done terrible things to innocent people while also has had terrible things done to her, girly had a tuff upbringing cause she inherited an unfortunate quirk that makes her mentally unstable & see’s the world a little differently. In other words she has urges that are hard to handle & didn’t get the proper help and care she needed as a child to help her growth. Still doesn’t excuse her for harming and unaliving innocent people. Kinda in the same boat as Shiggy, Dabi & Twice but she’s just a little more unstable. The league of villains really is a villain group with a bunch of misfits that see the world differently to others

Yeah. The main thing with Toga is she also didn't receive any help with dealing with her quirk. That's the main reason that she turned out the way she did. The build up of feelings and natural urges (for her) caused it to explode and twisted it into a desire to kill people. Had she received the proper support, she would never have turned into the "psycho" that we see her as.

If I were Monoma and be able to copy the quirk of Aizawa, best day of my life. Being able to erase a quirk like that is so cool to me. I'm glad he went a bit emotional about how he felt about his quirk since it gives more of a depth how he truly felt about his ability and having the support around him that no one is a side character, especially now when this whole fight is happening. Without Monoma and Midoriya being separated, the team with Jeanist and Bakugo would've been in so much more trouble (which is obvious and an understatement I know), so Monoma being reassured that he's as important too is nice to see. Also, not liking Toga is fair. I personally didn't like her as much as a lot of people do, even though her backstory is in a way tragic. Bad guys aren't always in the story for sympathy and their past is it just an explanation why they do these actions, but it doesn't mean you have to like her because of her backstory. I mean I kind of felt more neutral towards her more towards near the end of this season, but overall it's not really weird to dislike her.

There’s no denying it but it is important to understand what exactly her suffering is supposed to emphasize in the story and what it means for the over arching themes of the show, and how her quirk and childhood lead to the person she is today not just chopping it up too she’s some psycho chick. Like I don’t really “Like” Toya as a person per say like sure he’s awesome but he’s also very broken and well weird asf doesn’t mean I don’t find his backstory of abuse incredibly interesting though. Hell, even disliking her is a valid response to the amount of trouble she causes our main characters. There's always going to be villains you like, villains you hate, and villains you just don't care about. And it's not like you guys don't UNDERSTAND or refuse to understand why she turned out the way she did. You do. And you talked about it in the discussion in a way that conveys your stances about her, while highlighting why her character just doesn't resonate as much with you guys. That's completely okay. You're already a LOT better than people who don't pay attention whatsoever when characters they're not fully invested in are on the screen. There's always a progression to these things! Anyways, I can't wait for the next drop! It only gets crazier from here and I can guarantee that you guys are gonna lose your shit at one point or another. Regarding Shigaraki's Growth, which isn't a quirk but like a bodily mechanism that is as natural as your hair or fingernails growing. It's already been teased in S7 Ep3 when Spinner tried to talk to Shigaraki in the cave and ended up seeing the disgusting mass of hands that sprouted from him while he was recovering from getting his quirks destroyed by New Order. At the time, the hands retreated really quickly the moment Spinner saw it, and not long after that Shigaraki came walking out, mostly recovered. So yeah, Jack is right. The Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory purports that as generations of quirks emerge, they will continue to mix and become more and more powerful, to the point that human bodies will be unable to handle these new quirks anymore. We can already see this from how Dabi's flames burn his own body. His quirk is so strong after the mixing of quirk genes from Endeavour and Rei (his wife), that their son inherited a STRONGER version of Endeavour's Hellflame quirk. But his body isn't suited for it, so he cannot withstand the heat from his own flames. The idea of humanity going down this path that leads to extinction is what made the research community reject and expel Doctor Garaki (the doctor who created the Nomus and helped All For One). Because no one wants to harp on the possibility that humans are eventually going to be doomed forever in a cycle they cannot stop. HOWEVER, as we see here, Shigaraki is currently overcoming that Singularity theory by having his body continuously adapt and reshape itself to the most optimal form it can take to handle the strain of having so many quirks in a single body. It definitely makes sense that of all the people in the series, HE would be the first to try and overcome the doomsday theory. Of course, most people wouldn't be able to do this because they only have 1 quirk, but for Shigaraki? It's the next step to becoming an unstoppable demon lord. And that spells doom for society AND the heroes currently fighting him.

Monoma tweaking out in Ep 6 was the highlight for me LMFAO he's so funny. He has his rare moments of vulnerability and sincerity in between the crazy bouts of crashing out, so seeing him getting the opportunity to shine like a main character after seeing 6 seasons of his whole schtick being "Class B isn't any worse than Class A" was almost cathartic in a way. The quirk that he's always been told was unsuitable for a hero is now coming into play SO importantly that you can't deny how much of an impact it's having. Even if he is a side character in the series itself, he isn't one in the world of MHA. Because he's taken on the job of "disaster preventer" than Aizawa is now unable to take up. He's LITERALLY the only reason why Shigaraki(with All For One in control of the body) hasn't already destroyed the entire area around him. Also, the subtitles were kinda wonky when explaining why he can't warp Izuku back to the Coffin In The Sky from Okuto Island where he is now. It's not that he can only Copy one quirk at a time. It's that Monoma can't USE more than one quirk at a time. So if he wants to warp Izuku over, he has to stop using Erasure. But if he does that, Shigaraki will instantly decay the entire Coffin so it's not possible. Which is why Aizawa tells Izuku to make it back on his own.

Yes yes yes. Like it’s funny that I find what she represents rlly interesting but not her per say. How quirks can innately make someone deviate from the societal norm and how there was nothing put in place to deal with this and isn’t rlly seen as a problem to society. How maybe certain quirks joining tg can result in taboo quirks (was rlly hoping to know her parents quirks or if she had a quirk mutation) How ppl who have a biological disposition to develop certain traits because of their quirks need to be monitored and maybe if the heroes paid more attention to the root, there would be less villains etc etc

the "yandere" part is literally just her quirk and no one accepting her for who she is and trying to help her get through that, she loves Deku and Uraraka because she thinks that they understand her, but this episode we see that she "realizes" they are the same as others. She could be a blood transfuser or something else for society, but her fam rejected her and made her suppress her feelings until she had to let it out. The whole point since All Might retired was that society needs to depend on each other instead of others (All Might), and that is what Deku and Uraraka's whole mission is with Shiggy and Toga as we have seen in S6, and their conversation 2 episodes ago.

Toga, just like the rest of the League, is a representation of potential issues that might arise in a society that is proliferated with super powers; - "What if your power was actively harmful to you" Dabi - "What if your power was actively harmful to your surroundings" Shigaraki - "What if your power made you inhuman in the eyes of others and resulted in discrimination" Spinner - "What if you were dealt a bad hand in life and had to resort to using your powers to survive in a world that rejected you" Twice - "What if your power drove you to exhibit behaviors deemed unacceptable by society" Toga Compress is the hardest to pinpoint, since it's not as clear cut with him. Maybe that his quirk is "past its prime/usefulness" in the current day, considering that his direct ancestor was basically Robin Hood, and he had to resort to being a TV entertainer to make it work. Idk, summin loik dat I guess it also extends to Moonfish (the tooth guy), who's sort of the inverse of Toga - someone who would be a serial killer even in a world without quirks, he'd just be using a knife instead of his teeth Toga is a useful tool for world building. And she's also unfortunately written to be a Yandere.

Also about Toga i do not agree the execution itself is lacking like some said,i am pretty sure Horikoshi knew that not everyone would empathize with her,it is the point of the entire dialogue between Deku and Ochako being weird. I think her tragedy in general is the most interesting because by being herself loud about love and expressing it as she does and the audience being annoyed or creeped out by it, not being able to emphatize with her kinda proves the point that she really had barely any choice without guidance and become a villain for me and how "weird" ochaco's effort really is. And i say it as someone who does not "like" her presence on screen. Simply saying that as long as a character like Toga is functional to the entire themes of MHA and messages,she does not need to be "likable" or "fun" like AFO could be by being "comically evil" for example.

I never used to like toga either, but something that happens in this season changed my opinion on her. I don’t know if it’s just the mood of the scene, but it’s honestly so good. Although she’s not on the tier of someone like Deku, Ochaco, All might, or Bakugo, she’s still a great character. You guys don’t need to like her though, just understand the lesson and message of her character.

I think her story is an important one to tell in the kind of society mha takes place in, and I think it's done really well. Definitely does not mean you have to like her though

I really enjoyed the discussion you guys had at the end about Toga. I don’t love her either, but it’s true that even if she isn’t central to the main plot her story still matters. I like how Carter mentioned that in every superhero story there are things happening in the background, and in MHA it shows deeper issues in the world. You see it with Twice and the way he struggled with identity and loneliness until he found belonging in the League, Spinner dealing with the discrimination and stigma that comes with being a heteromorph, and Dabi’s whole backstory exposing the cracks in the hero system with his family trauma. And of course Toga’s struggle to fit into society and be accepted for who she is ties right into those same themes. Those perspectives are still integral even if they’re not in the spotlight all the time.

I am 1000% on the same page as you guys on Toga. I really think MHA would be less of a story for not exploring her as a character and the way she characterizes the world. But It’s not even that I’m uninterested in her it’s just that I don’t like seeing her on screen. I don’t enjoy her scenes. On paper I like so many things about her story but in execution I just do not feel drawn to her. I’m not saying I wish she was different because I actually really commend MHA for going that far with her character and let her be as disturbing as she is especially as a female character but I can’t lie that I enjoy seeing her

Man Dabi/Toya just makes me sad AF. I know he's a villain and has done irreversible mistakes but seeing him literally burning himself alive and his flesh peeling off all in his quest for revenge is so harrowing. There's always an argument for nature vs nurture but it is no question that the way he was raised coupled with his personality being very close to Endeavour's meant he never truly stood a chance without his dad seeking to change so so so much earlier... SAD

i think Toga is so interesting as a character since it always create a huge discussion whenever someone needs to like her or not,more of course will be explored about her,but i do not think you really need to empathize with Ochaco wanting to know her or Toga herself. I personally like Toga character a lot,creates a lot of mixed feelings and shows a vast range on how someone approach a character like this. As for Shigaraki body evolution,it happened because it was planned by AFO to become a vessel for many quirks so that it can morph however it wants,those months in Garaki's lab created a Frankenstein,it was shown a few episodes ago that he struggled to keep that incomplete modification in check.

Like someone else said I think the main reason shigaraki was able to get to this point was help from the doctor when he gave shigaraki all for one's quirks.

I’ll try my best to explain how tf Shigaraki is growing endless limbs lol: Dr. Garaki was rebuilding Shigaraki’s body over several months to make him a vessel for AFO. This wasn’t just about giving him new quirks but his body itself was surgically remodeled to adapt to having a huge number of quirks. The process was supposed to take four months but he woke up at 75% completion, which is why you sometimes see his body straining or tearing under the pressure. The hands and arms are that modified body reacting as all the quirks inside him keep fusing. The “growth” is his body molding into an “ideal form.” That’s why he can keep generating even while Erasure is active since it’s his physiology. Once Erasure slips though all those hands can use Decay. This ties back to Garaki’s whole Quirk Singularity theory, which is the idea that quirks will eventually outgrow what a normal body can handle. Garaki hacked that limit by turning Shigaraki into a body that keeps evolving under stress, and this is the result. So basically the reason he was cooking up for so long in that tube was because his body was being re-engineered to keep adapting like this. Erasure stops his quirks but it can’t undo the surgery. That’s why he can still mutate and grow like that and why it looks so overwhelming when it happens.

Toga is one of my favourite characters, but I can totally understand where you're coming from. It makes me happy that you guys understand how the singularity affected her and how she's a product of society, but just cause you know her backstory doesn't mean you have to like her. Her obsessive personality isn't for everyone and opinions are opinions after all. Personally, that's what makes her so appealing to me, since my favourite part about the show in general is the worldbuilding and the relationships that resulted from the superhuman society, and not so much the fights themselves, which I know you guys, and most MHA fans like. Anyways, very excited to see your reactions to some of the later episodes!

People definitely glaze Toga a lot including myself - i loved the animation they did for her in ep 7- but you guys don't need to love/like her, i hope no-one is forcing you to, as long you guys understand her story and why she's upset with society (which you do!) then it's fine to get annoyed when she's doing annoying things lol. Also my mommy Mirko being a beast as per usual she lost an arm and leg two months ago according to the show's timeline and still joined the battle like nothing happened 😭

I like the concept of Toga’s character representing debilitating quirks in society, like mental health, etc., but I don’t like how they executed it. She ended up being more annoying than sympathetic or pitiable lol. I think if they didn’t lean so much on the whole quirky lovesick girl shit it would’ve been better.

The biggest reason Shigaraki's body evolved was more so what he underwent with Garaki than the quirks itself, or a mix of both I guess As for Toga I always liked her just because she was so different but I get what you're saying, she doesn't have the most hype scenes

I thought the evolution thing made sense since quirks are the result of human evolution so they just continue to evolve more with each generation. A lot of characters have evolved bodies in order to adapt to their quirks. People with animal quirks have mixed human and animal anatomies in order to be able to perform those animal characteristics. People with elemental quirks are more resistant to their element(s). Eri’s body is resistant to her own quirk. Shigaraki’s body is reaching singularity, which basically means he’s getting to a state so unique that it’s beyond anyone’s control and its end result can no longer be determined.

I recently rewatched this season....it really is crazy. Y'all gonna have a crazy binge. Yeah, you don't HAVE to like a character to understand and empathize with them. Maybe you'll change your mind when you get more context, maybe you won't. But it shouldn't matter as far as we are concerned. I think a lot of people felt the same way; I don't think I even liked Toga until season 6 really. Hindsight merchants be going crazy on you guys real bad tho, lol.
