She could be learning to be more open in finding a way to love herself through someone else showing affection for her innie - she is a part of her after all. It would also make sense that she is showing an interest in her innie and Mark's intimate moments considering the way her father is treating her. We've seen her think of her innie as not even a person - in her own words. So, if her own father treats her - a real "person", in a cold, dehumanizing way, it would probably cause somewhat of a dissonance to herself to see her "non-person self" being treated more humanely than her real person self, AND worse - by another "non-person" (Mark). A non-person treats her better, more lovingly than her own father. We all yearn for human warmth and intimacy, especially so when it is in short supply. When she sees Mark kiss her innie, she is probably starved for it and cant comprehend how something as undeserving as her innie is even worth anything to anyone. She probably feels less than, even as Helena, because she was probably brought up having to live up to impossible standards being raised in a family with such pedigree. We dont even know how far the Eagan rabbit hole goes - as far as we know, this whole Severance thing could also be a way for them to find suitable hosts to implant living people's memories into other humans so they can live "forever"... the way Helena's father was talking in several scenes using very antiquated words makes you think he comes from a time even way before he was ACTUALLY born. He told her at one point she looked "like a FILM" - like what year is he from? Then that "fetid moppet" line... it's all a bit sus...

Love mixed with heavy trauma is some of the most complex emotional turmoil we can experience. Especially when its the trauma of death taking a loved one away from you. Lumon could be trying to prove that Severance is indeed a PERFECT procedure even in this EXTREME of a circumstance, because if there is even a slight memory remaining, a sensation, a whisper, a bodily reaction being recalled in some way, perhaps they consider their process of severance imperfect? Why else are they sending people in a room with another person telling them about their outie and what their outie is like, and then monitoring how that information always provides comfort and pleasure to the innies? If the procedure was indeed perfect, the innies would have been indifferent to any information about their outies, right? Why does Lumon give these opportunities to their test subjects at all - obviously they are testing something. Then there's the name of the show - SEVERANCE - something that takes us away from one another, that cuts something off, or away. An opposite of that would be wholeness, togetherness, completeness... which is what seemingly no one at Lumon wants - departments are forbidden to interact with each other, employees arent allowed any intimacy, everything is so cold and disconnected - SEVERED. That's why I mostly feel like, the show is about the ultimate PROOF of Severance WORKING, which in Lumon's eyes could be - Mark and Gemma's love and trauma, and how no amount of memory altering can erase what they have lived and experienced together. This could be Lumon's worst nightmare, and for us the viewer, and possibly also what the writer/director intended to be the message of the show. A tad corny and predictable, but that could just be the sappy romantic in me. I obviously welcome the show to surprise me, and in more ways than one. I loved it so far.

Since Cobel has that medical tube thing she might have lost a sibling or child and had nothing left. When you’re used to seeing a person like him who’s animated in a subtle and has certain joy for life versus her husband who it seems like has been weighed down by feelings of shame and inadequacy to where he isn’t really participating in life much anymore. It’d be weird to see some of the traits you feel in love with like that for someone who’s not really striving to live their life anymore
