Yes, it will be something new for the guys obviously on the channel cause they haven’t really dived into too many thriller- dramas or heavily focused revenge stories with a lot of brutal/triggering scenes yet, but it’ll be worth it to see their reactions and I know that they’ll be hooked. It just has that type of story where you won’t be able to stop half way through, cause it never falls off once it gets going

Should start with one that has faster pacing and is shorter first, then when they’re hooked on kdramas as a whole (it won’t take much—they’re all super good), then you get them into the dramas that take a while to cook, like the Glory.

I watched Hwayi: A Monster Boy back in 2017, I was 18 at the time. It low key stuck with me as the boy was close to my age and I super empathised with him ( not to say I went through what he did lol) and I realised there must have been more SK thrillers like this. Coinlocker girl was another one I watched early on, which has the actress Kim Go Eun among a crazy line up of cast, that was also another impactful film. Lol apologies for the rant ^_^

Korean films are so incredible and the acting is always top notch. Carter is exactly right, this is so much more than a zombie movie. And judging from his reaction this really was a movie he needed to see, so im glad it was chosen from the recs 🥹

However, this was a very realistic & tragic way to show true reflexive fight, flight, & freeze responses. This was not just another entertaining "zombie movie." This had soooo much heart- seeing the beauty and ugliness of human nature. Soo much to admire and learn from. Heartbreaking that it took a zombie outbreak for the dad to learn compassion & selflessness- but at least he died a better man & his daughter got to witness some of his rare acts of kindness.

Peninsula is a standalone sequel. Still haven’t seen, don’t know if it’s worth it. There might be an American remake in pre-production coming soon and hopefully an actual Korean sequel to the movie in the making.

To see not only our main character change, but also how his change effects his daughter's view of him. She wanted to not be with him and recognized he was a "bloodsucker" at the start. To see her actually care and ask him "not to go" at the end, and how that just breaks him, is soo heartbreaking. Also liked the touch of him washing his bloody hands after talking with Kim about how they were apart of this outbreak (in a way). He then for the first time felt what his actions has consequences.

You alienate everyone around you and become bitter and resentful until you only have yourself to care about. Could've been the main characters future if he had kept living the way he did in the beginning

It let's him see himself from the outside and what it looks like when you're selfish like that and it's so important for his character arc. You can see the moment of realisation on his face when rat guy refuses to let their group into their car
