I understand the purpose of the scene and his backstory which tries to give more context and explain why he become who he is and why he acts in certain ways. But to me, his dialogue is not so well-written or well-executed especially in this particular scene (maybe as you said, because heās drunk etc). Thatās why I said the particular scene is random. Maybe ārandomā is not the appropriate word but the execution or expression of his mind/backstory with that particular scene is weird to me. It does not quite fit in the show or goes with the flow especially with its pacing. I feel like thereās a strong intention to fit in that particular scene so as to make the specific tea party reference to Alice in Wonderland. It could definitely be executed/expressed in other better ways without such reference. That said, all his later dialogues in the later episodes definitely reveals his goals, intentions and character much clearer and are executed much better. So I do understand his character and personality. Itās just that Iām personally not too fond of that scene, if that makes sense?

Essentially it reveals why he is such a skilled manipulator as he was a host at a host club in his previous life. He is motivated not to be looked down upon and not to fail like he did in the original world. He is desperately attempting to maintain a fragile peace with a illusion of security and order in a chaotic world with an eccentric persona motivating people for the cause. As you saw, the peace is kinda falling a part and he is going crazy with having to put on a persona 100% of the time to maintain such a difficult status quo.

Its definitely hard to follow because he is only spilling all this info to arisu because he is drunk and thinks he may die soon. Essentially he ran a host club in his past life which explains his eccentric personality. He said its incredibly important to not be looked down upon in a host club because of how competitive and cut throat it is. Last time he failed but now he isnt trying to make the same mistake. The world they are in is chaos that needs to be held together by something. By hatter forming this eccentric personality for people to look up too and manipulate their emotions of fear and hope to keep a fragile peace, which you see earlier was falling apart. TLDR: it explains why hatter acts so eccentrically, why he is such a skilled manipulator, and his intentions in trying to keep a fragile peace in world where chaos is overwhelming. Also shows hes kinda being driven crazy by putting on a persona 24/7.

The only thing I'm noticing on my second watch now is that its very theatrical from a story telling perspective. Some convenient timing or knowledge and what not but nothing else. Dialogue has all been good, ep 3 has some of the best dialogue/acting I've ever seen in live-action. Not sure what you are on about.

That's why I said I got sidetracked. And yeah it does help. I've always loved writing and poetry is such a beautiful art form that has helped me a lot. I wish I could share one here but I don't think that would be allowed or appropriate. Here Yes I could talk about Alice in Borderland all day. I have a problem. It's just that amazing. I could glaze on this show constantly. I also think that game was a perfect to end the season. The choregraphy on this show is top tier and yes the bonds, character development, and friendships is what makes this show so beautiful to me. And I love how Arisu has such a big heart and cares for the well being of others and how he's relatable too as he's a human with many emotions. Yes Chishiya's character arc is so uplifting to me how became more protective and caring of Usgai because they became super close later on as they got to know each other and fought together. And yeah I hope Arisu and Usagi are endgame. I'm rooting for them!!! š„°š¤

Thatās why I love all the characters in AIB so much. *S2 Spoiler* Just want to add more to share: Although the Jack of Hearts and King of Diamonds are my favourite games, in terms of plot twists and mind-playing elements, I definitely love Queen of Hearts game the most. The teasing and the flips are just mind blowing - itās the perfect way to lead to the ending with the final reveal. Also love EP7 of s2. The best action choreography ever. Everyoneās coming together fighting not just for themselves but also for others. Even Chishiya changed from being care-free to protecting Usagi. Oh god, I guess I just love everything in season 2 š¤£

Many often prefer Chishiya over Arisu because Chishiya seems more chill and intelligent than Arisu. But I feel like Arisuās character serves an important purpose - heās a normal human being with intelligence but also with weaknesses, just like everyone one of us with both strengths and weaknesses. *S2 Spoiler* I especially love Arisu & Usagiās character developments in season 2: from Usagi not wanting to go back to the original world, to them building a bond and wanting to return together, to Usagi playing an important role in the Queen of Hearts game helping Arisu gain his senses and understand his purpose of living.

That's why I can relate to Mob on a deeper level. I bottle up my emotions until I almost combust too at times. Writing poetry is my therapy. I'm a deep thinker and love to put my thoughts and feelings on paper. But anyway now back to Alice In Borderland... I got a little sidetracked :) The solitary confinement game was carefully crafted and the suspense kept its momentum the whole time. I couldn't get enough of all the darkness looming over the edge. I knew it wouldn't be long until someone betrayed the other. Also, I could tell that one red headed girl was going to be manipulative and a wacko. I wanted to punch her in the face. But Bando and Yaba kept my interest at its peak Next up, was the Beauty Contest... And I loved all the math/critical thinking skills incorporated. It felt like a math class but with more pressure and the impending doom of dying Haha Also, I was quite fond of the King of Diamonds character. He was very well written in my opinion. I only wish he had more of a significant role. To me, it didn't feel like he really did. I found him to be fascinating and wanted to dig more into his backstory of when he was a judge. I was actually sad with his death... š¢

Not trying to compare, but it sort of reminded me of the part in Squid Game season 2 when Gilhun was listening to the Recruiter's backstory. It just lost me overall... But the idea of witnessing a close friend ending their life makes much more sense.

I guess he was trying to say heās lost all his partners standing side by side with him when he was at the 1st beach so the 2nd beach is now what he live for, or I could be totally wrong. The scene is so random it comes out of nowhere if not for the specific reference to the tea party scene.
