I feel like the new technique is honestly just a side benefit of Naruto learning how to really use shadow clones. Like this new training method is something he'll always be able to use to speed up any training, and with the solution of him just adding another clone, it further teaches him to think outside of the box with his shadow clones. Also once he can apply change of chakra nature to the rasengan, he can basically do that with any jutsu. This training arc is probably the most important one in the series with the most pay off. Haikyuu s4 spoiler: It's kinda like Hinata learning to receive from being a ball boy. Learning to receive was a nice benefit of the training, but the real benefit is him learning how to analyze and strategize in games, which is a much more important skill and pays of constantly from then on.

My biggest gripe with this whole Naruto training arc is that it's based on a false pretense. The pretense is that Naruto needs an ultimate technique, even stronger than Rasengan, to combat the Akatsuki. But that's not Naruto's problem. His problem is he's too damn slow, weak, and dumb in the first place that he can't even hit his regular Rasengan. It's not like Rasengan is even weak. I think the only thing that Naruto has hit with a Rasengan since Shippuden started was a snake that Orochimaru was attacking with. He even showed off his Odama Rasengan (giant Rasengan) in the fight against the fake Itachi on the way to Sasori/Gaara but of course didn't manage to actually hit with it. They just wanted something for Naruto to do but it doesn't actually address his real shortcoming.

i really like the brief discussion of faith in this series being introduced as what i think is a core value/moral for the show. hidan said leaf were a bunch of atheists since he is a religious zealot, and itachi said that the leaf believe in their founders as gods and follow the will of fire. he doesn’t expand on it and maybe we’ll learn more about it later, but the shikamaru grief episode, everything is muted and gray until he finally visits asuma’s grave with his team. and when tsunade tries to stop them, everything is still dark and washed out because it’s night, but then shikamaru lights asuma’s lighter and that gives a great visual of color, purpose, and determination of that will of fire. they’re defying their hokage but adhering to what itachi said of them being reverent to this founding motto. so it’s a revenge arc for sure, but i think it’s more than that and i hope they expand on it more in the future

Yes, "Kakashi Gaiden" is grouped, but the last episode of this fight isn’t. Considering that this arc from now on is all action with no chill moments, it would be really strange to cut it off and not watch the final episode of the fight, especially because it has one of the coolest moments in it. It would be the best for next batch to include episodes 84-88

I love re-watching Naruto Shippuden and reminiscing about the feeling of old-gen animes. While old gen animes may lack in terms of pacing and animation, their essence is definitely unbeatable. This is why these three animes (Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach) were called as The Big 3, and their legacy will never be surpassed. Just a suggestion: you all should check out more old-gen shounen like Gintama and Yu Yu Hakusho. There's a lot more to discover.

These episodes were better with 82 especially being great. But there is no way a show with this many mid episodes could be in S tier. Episode 82 is one of the best depictions of loss I’ve seen in any media. The way it transitions from silence, to denial, to self-blame, to emotional turmoil, and finally to acceptance, motivation, and determination is incredible. The scene with Shikamaru and his father is, as Jack says, peak storytelling. His father, in a clever yet blunt way, managed to help him let everything out. Truly masterfully done. Definitely a best episode of Naruto until now

Episode 82 is one of the best Naruto episodes in terms of direction, animation and sounds and that is no exaggeration! A lot of the episode was filler but in the best way possible and what anime filler should do for a manga which is enhance the source material and expand scenes instead of dragging or including random scenes. A lot of the added scenes show the village and its kids, a more hopeful background to Shikamaru's grief and the death that haunts the life of a shinobi. Easily one of my favourite episodes

As genuinely as I can possibly say this, I think the viewers should pick out a pack of episodes we really like in dub as opposed to just asking for it outright because last time they took our word for it they got some bad performances.
