The number one failing of the naruto anime has everything to do with how it was aired - unfortunately they could only do so much trying to release a show weekly, on pace or outpacing with the source material, for 2 decades 🥲 it led to a ton of filler and flashbacks (both for time fill and for reminding people who watched it as it aired) vs the raw power of the manga material. I think pierrot succeeded in bringing a lot of great emotion where necessary, and it definitely improves down the line, but it is rough from the perspective of attentive and condensed watching. Still my favorite series in the world despite it all though, and I can't wait to see how yall feel about the story moving forward 🥹

The Mangekyo strains his eye, and if regular Sharingan already drains his chakra quickly, just imagine how much the Mangekyo must tire him out. I would imagine he can only train it ocassionally while making slow, incremental progress each time.

If we give this arc an 8, then that would automatically make almost every canon arc a 9 or above, which clearly isn't the case, and I say that as a fan. A 6 is actually fair, it's not even a bad rating, it's literally above average. People have gotten way to to generous when rating stuff; a 5 is mediocre, a 6 is supposed to be decent, 8 is great, 9 and above is a masterpiece. This arc was decent, not great, not terrible, and it was definitely drawn out more than ideal, but I understand they had to avoid catching up to the manga.

Carter isn't an Anime fan, he hasn't seen as many Anime as even most casual fans, and most of the ones he has got to watch because of our recommendations are absolute peak like HxH, Vinland Saga and AOT. In the relatively small repertoire of very good Anime he has seen, it doesn't surprise me that this arc is the worse he has seen, not because it's that terrible, but because he never had the opportunity to watch too many bad arcs. This is the problem with first introducing someone unfamiliar with anime to the best material out there right from the bat, the expectations become too high and expect every new anime they start to be on par, which is clearly impossible when almost every anime you've seen so far is at least top 25 of all time.

2024-11-02 17:18:37 +0000 UTCAfter having watched Shippuden a number of times, I can agree with Carter about this arc. It has it's moments, but its definitely a little too slow imo. Too many episodes for what the actual content was. I will say this though, there are only a handful of times that this show gets to me and makes me tear up, and the scene where Naruto is crying over Gaara's body and Granny Chiyo starts the process of bringing him back, is one of those times. No matter how many times I watch it, Naruto telling the others how he feels and stuff hits me hard. I think its because when he was still a kid, the only way he knew how to express himself was to act out. Now, these people that are around him respect him and are his friends, and he's never had the chance to speak aloud how he feels about the whole Jinchuriki thing to his friends. He's only ever internalized it, except to Iruka Sensei. So it almost feels like it means more, because the ones he's talking to are so close to him, and they must be thinking like "oh is this how he felt all along, we never knew" sort of thing.

Just like Carter said, it perfectly wraps everything and comes full circle. Granny Chiyo will always be a Legend RIP. I personally would rate this arc a 8. It for sure drags but for terms of story and development it's a great arc for setup and future events for stuff later down the line. Can't wait for next week. We moving 🫡

However, this time it struck me much harder. My grandmother, who I was very close to, passed away just a month ago, and Chiyo’s character resonated even more with me because they not only look alike but also share similar personalities. So even though rewatching this arc felt like waiting for the standout moments, that scene had a much greater impact on me than it did three years ago when I first watched it. That being said, I can't wait for you to finish next arc because it is the worst one in Shippuden

Kishimoto (naruto creator) wrote kakashi gaiden BEFORE the actual naruto shippuden manga, so its really meant to be watched before the series. It would be a good idea to watch it rn since it could give y'all a glimpse of how future naruto shippuden looks and feels like (kakashi gaiden is episode 119-120) --- which could wash away the bad taste from the first arc 😂😂😂 u guys might even get more motivated to stick through with the initial arcs as well.
