I think it was obvious he wanted to get rid of the weak link from his team because he gave the same look when he asked to join their team. And I don’t think he told him at the last minute either bc he knows he’s a nice guy and from seeing how he treats the grandpa, and could’ve thought that he would tell him to pick the easiest triangle also.
