Luffy slingshotted to the ship they were just running at 💀 but to y’all he wasn’t facing the ship, ok. Luffy has his whole upper body frame restricted for execution, and has never stretched while being restricted before (Buggy’s ropes), but to y’all 💀 he should’ve did the impossible in that moment. That’s the thing with ANY anime, you can be critical of anything and make it make no sense. Just gotta follow the rules of the verse and put sense behind it. And remember this is an old weekly anime… these scenes are dragged out.

2024-10-20 16:11:36 +0000 UTCi’ll preface this by saying that i’ve been watching one piece for literally 20 years now, so i understand that the pacing of stories generally has changed radically. between the MCU type movies with cuts so fast you can’t even tell what’s happening, the existence of tiktok and similar media that entail such short bursts of information, and now contemporary anime that emphasize similarly rapid cuts and intense action animation sometimes to the detriment of substance, i think our collective attention spans are cooked in such a way that can make one piece feel excruciating at times. but like with Tarkovsky or Bergman films or anything older and substantial, i think one piece is worth sitting with. you can let your mind fill in the tension or the humor of an overlong scene and the experience can be richer for it. i think that, regardless, there will be some parts worth skipping over, and you’ll figure out what those are as you watch it. but really a lot of the challenge is just modulating our attention spans to meet one piece where it’s at, and not expecting it to be like JJK or something. anyway, this is all just to register a really deep skepticism of One Pace—i learned with later episodes to skip the first six or seven minutes of recap, etc., but i think it might be better to just really try to sit with it and take it in even when it’s slow. it’s an adventure you don’t want to rush. it’s also why while i get all the jokes about 1000 episodes, i find that after watching it this long i wish i could have another 20 years of it, and 1000 episodes or 2000 may never feel like enough (i’m being a bit hyperbolic but you get what i’m saying). anyway, so stoked that y’all are watching it, i’ve been waiting for you to start it for what feels like years maybe lol (whenever the AoT watch started) and i’m also really excited to see you watch Evangelion possibly (not sure if i heard correctly that that’s the move). it’s possibly one of the greatest works of art ever, and it’s worth reading a little Freud or Jung or Lacan along the way or after, to really draw out its profundity. thanks for another great watch guys, these truly get me through my weeks, just as much as the manga :)

I doubt they're skipping all the fillers, but assuming they do there's still 1037 episodes to watch. Assuming they do 4 episodes/week it would take 1037/(4x52) = 4.985 years to get caught up and this is an optimistic calculation. They are not using One Pace all the way trough, and even if they did that doesn't change the amount of cannon episodes existing. Do you want it to take forever or what is your agenda in making fake calculations?

Mckay is just passive type and doesn't comment very often ( he makes like 2 comments per reaction even on Naruto, the show he loves the most). They are loving OP way more than Jack, Cannon and Carter are loving Naruto ( if they even love it lmao) and that's fine! We pay them to have their genuine reactions and I know that sometimes it hurts to watch someone hating on your favourite moment but it's not that deep, I'm sure they will love and appreciate both stories even more in the future ( I didn't watch OP until now and I got spoiled for death of one character. I watched that episode without watching anything before that and it made me cry so I am sure that that great of an emotional impact provided with context will hit anyone!)

Like, Carter and Cannon for instance aren't really that into Naruto just yet, but they still manage to keep an open mind and give credit where credit is due. But for the One Piece reactions, Brig and Mckay can sometimes seem like they're just dismissive of it just because they're Naruto fans. It really is the worst when they bring up future stuff though, like "Is this Gear 2?" "is this Whitebeard?" "Marineford"?. With all that said I don't really care, I still think these reactions are really fun despite some criticisms I might have.

Some things may be exaggerated as if you were reading a fable, kind of like Usopp's stories, but the overall story when things are more serious is when details and specifics matter. To me One Piece is like a fable epic, similar to Homer's Odyssey.

2024-10-18 17:55:42 +0000 UTC@Brig, Tbh, for me becuz i grew up with the Big 3, both manga and anime, this Pirate vs Ninja shit sucks hard. Luffy and Naruto are two peas in a pod. Both are goofy af, value friendships, and are stubbornly goal/dream-oriented, so-much so that their superior mentor figures are rooting for them to accomplish their dreams. The only differences between them are the environments they grew up, Luffy never was an outcast like Naruto was, even if Luffy was outcasted by others, he really wouldn’t give a frick what they think of him. On the other hand, Naruto had the Nine Tails sealed into him. The Nine Tails, which is cause of the Hidden Leaf Village being almost destroyed, made Naruto be shunned by others and become a li’l menace in the village. To viewers, that made Naruto more grounded and relatable, while Luffy’s aspirations and optimism is what makes him grounded and relatable. Now Naruto does have a beast in him, but don’t rule out Luffy, he still has that dog in him.

One Piece is my favourite MANGA in the world together with Berserk, but the ANIME definitely has some flaws in it, and it's alright to point them out. Sure they're being a bit too nitpicky sometimes, but I feel like it's just a clap back for all the hate Naruto has received and all the comment's comparing OP to Naruto saying how OP is better in whatever aspect. Can we stop it with the comparisons and accept that both are very different but fantastic stories. I can see that Brig is at least trying to find positives in OP and I appreciate that. I'm sure they'll come around sooner than later

But sometime last year I finally sat down and started watching it I think I got fully caught up in both Manga and Anime in about 4-5 months (One Pace for some things) and even though I knew some moments were going to happen I didn't know how or why and Oda just draws you in with the story and the way things happen. I never really felt spoiled on anything in the show. I never thought this would be something I watched due to how long it was but I still want so much more!!!!

2024-10-18 09:35:58 +0000 UTCto "ttchoppa"s and "Nope"s point: 1. bruh, I just gave them a simple timeline of what they know so far 2. no I am not deleting it, no it doesn't spoiler or ruin anything I supportet/looked after many one piece watch throughs, some active, some passive and I always noticed the same thing people enjoyed the journey a LOT more if they vaguely knew what to keep an eye out for, something like "keep the timeline in mind", nothing specific just so they don't get lost in the sauce and can start theorycrafting along the way on their own it can get very convoluted/confusing very quickly especially when they are watching multiple shows at the same time please try to understand the difference and where my intentions come from try imagining a parent teaching his kid how to ride a bicycle and pretending to hold him up so he won't fall down until the kid realizes that he was riding the bike on his own all along and to "Clover": that's totally normal lol, there is a reason why the one piece wiki is so popular :D

2024-10-18 07:39:28 +0000 UTCahhh knocked reverse mountain in one go lets gooo! so this arc is literally why i can't stand people who hate on one piece because you can tell they never watched it from the lore in these 3 episodes. their takes are usually along the lines of "one piece is repetitive" (trying to argue the reason the show is long) but how can it be repetitive if every arc is in a different place, with different people dealing with different problems. like last arc we were exploring a legendary town, now we got sucked into a giant whale with a sad backstory who wants to knock down a giant mountain/waterslide. every arc is literally an new adventure, which is why one piece fans always say we're caught up but it's never enough or it feels short. some haters even say that one piece should've ended way earlier, but how could you have that sentiment after experiencing this, there's no way for it feel satisfactory if it doesn't take it's time within this journey. it'd feel rushed and half assed imo (hell look what happened to aot and jjk) ANYWAYS congrats on wrapping up your first saga 10 more to go!
