Just my opinion! She wanted to break the wheel and drogon broke the wheel aka the iron throne that everyone was fighting over. I also feel like she thought it was so easy and it can’t be this quick for cerci to surrender her pain wasn’t enough for her so she just goes mad! About Sansa she had to rule the north because if the different lords and queens are gonna pick the king or queen of the 6 kingdoms that’s fine but the north always has to have a stark. I think it makes sense why they separate It I suppose! Overall I think it’s a good ending just rushed in my opinion.

I was in denial about the trash writing for so long but after this rewatch with you guys I can't hide it anymore. I was able to frame season 8 semi-positively in my head because I was aware before starting the show that 1) Daenerys was murdered by Jon, 2) Bran was king, and 3) everyone hated the ending. I loved Dany in season 1 but in season 2 she instantly became unlikable to me because of her new entitlement and black and white thinking (Carter is the only other person I know who felt that way that early), and I was already seeing that Jon was everything that she wasn't. I HATE Jon's ending, but I admit that I see Bran as the objective best choice for king, it just isn't the best for the story.

Same reaction I had. Literally the entire episode I was like "ok I'll just see past all this shit if Jon gets a good ending and recognition for all he has done for EVERYONE through this entire show" and then when I saw them just sending him off to the wall like some side character made me so mad. Like the Prince that was Promised is just discarded to the edge of the world after everything and also being the last Targaryen, just left to be forgotten at the edge of the world and possibly being the end of Targaryens, because even if he has kids, what will it mean over there, no one will know or care? That just sucks so bad. I'm not even going to start about how disappointed I was in Jaime's and Cersei's ending. They deserved cinematic masterpieces of a death, not this stupid scene. Jaime's character- ruined. Jon's character- ruined. Varys, Littlefinger, Tyrion - ruined. They have been for the past like 2-3 seasons, but I was willing to forgive for a good ending. No, just a bunch of shit. The only character that did exactly what I expected was Daenerys. Like at season 2 I already knew she was going to end like this, destroying King's Landing and becoming an even worse villain than her father. It was honestly very predictable and heavily foreshadowed but I don't even mind cause all her "good deeds" and talks of creating a better world were just red herrings for people who can't objectively follow a story. But that's exactly why I thought Jon was going to get a little more predictable ending as well. Maybe not as king, but as Lord of Dragonstone and house Targaryen so it doesn't die out and he completely fulfills the "Prince (not king) that was promised" and lives on on an island away from everything, but still being known as the hero that saved Westeros TWICE. Overall such a shitty ending to a perfect show.

Fun journey with y'all, yet the PTSD hits in this ep. I believe it's Jon being out of character that deeply punched. You'd never have seen Jon walk up those stairs to Dany and stand beside her and then have to be convinced to kill her? It's just not the Jon of seven seasons. HELL NO. He beheaded a dude for killing a baby. THOUSANDS of kids dead. I don't think George would ever write Jon needing to be convinced. I think he'd formulate his own plan. That's just one problem in this horrendous, disappointing final moment in a previously incredible piece of story telling.

We all know they changed HOTD away from the books. So any book history probably is not going to be tv show accurate. This is why the writing is so bad. They changed the HOTD history and now that trickles down into what the GOT writers did. But we should still being avoiding HOTD spoilers about Rhaenyras children and their history as they are still mid series and haven’t read the books.

I don’t think the ending was good but it makes sense. Back at the end of season 2 when Danny gets trapped in that tower of the undying, the ending is foreshadowed. She walks to the through with ash all around and then see khal drogo signifying she died. Even though they did a terrible job of wrapping it up I’m pretty sure that’s what George R Martin has in mind.

I'd just be very careful with any older shows, because there are a lot of fan made trailers, and the official one for the one I suggest sort of makes it seem boring af, when it just isn't. But the older shows are back when people would/could tune in to see something just to see if they liked it, and there weren't so many options across platforms, that they had to become locked in from the trailer, because they could just flip to and away from the channel if they didn't like it.

You also should definitely watch Alt Shift X or any other YouTubers videos about GOT. They do great character comparisons of Tv show vs books. And they kind of theorize on the book ending. Shift X’s videos will make you understand what is gonna happen in the books even without reading them.

This show is my favorite live action ever, above breaking bad, Chernobyl and Dark, even though I adore all these shows. I think I cried watching the ending because of how bad it was, like it literally broke my heart. I haven't watched season 7 and 8 since their release, I watched them with you and it broke my heart again. For me show peak was till season 4, season 5-6 are bearable, 7-8 are fanfic theory that doesn't exist in my mind. Sansa Varys Tyrion and many of my favorite characters were destroyed by last seasons. As a way to cope with it, I have watched multiple Video Theories of how it should have ended. There were many people who step-by-step changed the ending with edits and made it 100x better than D&D. I loved a theory of Bran being the night king himself/being the reason the night king was created and the idea of night king's mission stopping the creation of white walkers and being a good guy. Even though they showed us the creation of him and it was a random guy. There was also a theory of Bran being the reason for many major events, like warging into mind of Daenerys's dad, Mad king, the way he did with Hodor, trying to change past by telling him to burn white walkers and thus making him crazy. And that's why all he said before dying was Burn Them All, as if he is crazy. Also Bran being reason of Dany and Jon's conflict, he was trying to mess it up to get the throne. Idea of Bran being the bad guy is amazing. Jaime going to capital to persuade/kill Cercei. Night king's army going straight to capital and our main characters fighting Cercei before him, to make Long Night the ultimate finale and the main reason for many deaths. Jaime being the one who does the killing blow for Night king making his title of King Slayer being something honorable and making a full circle. Jaime joining the Night Watch. There were also theories of Arya killing Cercei wearing a face of someone she trusts. And many more. I would suggest watching the alternative GoT endings from Youtube, there are really nice alternative endings (Flick Fanatics, Think Story and etc). It is amazing how everyone can write the show better than D&D

I doubt it. To be a kings guard you’re considered one of the best of the best. Pod has had training for like a year or 2 following around Brienn and as she said he’s a competent swordsman meaning he can probably compete with your average soldier. Meryn Trant has likely been training his whole life and was able to disarm Syrio In S1 relatively easily. They make the kings guard look way to NPC in this show. Brienn and Hound both took out a flock of kings guard all by themselves which shouldn’t be possible.

I started this show when it first aired, and I was a fan all through my young adulthood. I fell in love with these characters and the worldbuilding, the twisting webs of plot, and even after season 4 when the writing fell off a little bit, even after my favorite characters were beaten down repeatedly and had their dignity stripped from them, I kept on watching. Like you guys said, yes there were hints of a "Mad Queen" Dany throughout. But there's a world of difference between a few hints across 8 seasons, and what we got. I agree with every single thing Brig and Carter said in the outro. This show changed television when it first came out, and it could've stayed the best show of all time, it could've defined a generation of watchers and aspiring writers, if D&D hadn't given up and frantically rushed to the end. Carter said one thing that I think is the real, main reason the finale felt like such a massive betrayal, and it's the thing I ultimately can't stand about this finale. The whole time the show was pretty miserable, yes, and I've heard people argue that "the finale was equally miserable so at least it's technically consistent." But to be miserable the entire time, and then end miserably? Why, what's the point?? Why tf would anyone watch a show like that? They wouldn't, and that's the problem. Yes the show was pretty harsh from the beginning, it was set in a harsh world, but it was never negative and miserable and sadistic for the sake of it, just to be edgy or "unique." We all watched this show and these characters suffer, taking L after L and pushing on, because we thought it would all be worth it in the end, we all thought it HAD to be going somewhere poignant or powerful or AT LEAST satisfying. And then, they just end it like that. No respect for us as watchers, for the arcs of the characters, the journeys, themes, or logical trajectory of the story at the time. It genuinely felt like a slap in the face. And it's such an incredible failure, for a show of its caliber to end up being another tragic, depressing waste of time. It's just astounding imo. What Cannon said about watching it now, even the first few seasons, I really feel that - I had to take a break for a few years before I could rewatch the first half of the show again and not feel crushed, everything I watched being forced into the nonsensical context of the finale. (Although I personally got a lot of comfort out of watching those Alt Shift X lore/theory videos too.) But truly, those first few seasons are still the best writing of any show I've ever seen, and it was a real special thing to get to watch that with you guys. So thanks for giving us your time and enduring this trainwreck. I'll probably just rewatch your S1-4 episodes next time I need a mood boost lol.

It's a mistake to resist the themes of Season 8 so strongly. I'm certain that Dany's descent into murderous madness comes from the mind of GRR Martin himself. There's something to be said for embracing when our expectations and conventions are set on their head in a way that tells a story that's new rather than the hero becomes king resolution that is as old as time.

This episode in a perfect world.... Jon kills Dany, Drogon comes back and breaks jon out of prison. He then uses Drogon to take the throne. Banishes the Unsullied and Dothraki or they will be burned. Bran Stark becomes Hand of the King. Sansa Stark becomes Warden of the North. Arya Stark becomes master of whispers. Sam Tarly is Maester. Davos is Master of Ships. Bronn is Master of War. You guys should watch the documentary they made for the final season called The Last Watch. It includes the table read with the actors for the final season and they look at all the hard work that went into making this final season. Because whatever you think about the series, the production was a superb effort by so many people. Also, everybody and their brother had a need to share their thoughts on the ending when it first aired. So there are probably millions of videos (maybe I’m exaggerating) about how the ending made people feel. I think this is why reactions to GOT are so popular. But I will always insist that the main reason the early seasons are so good is because of the books. And for those of you who absolutely loved those early seasons, I highly recommend reading the books whether or not they ever complete the series. It truly is worth it for the richer story that the book tell. I truly do not believe that Daenerys is intended to have the show ending in the books. For those people who think that Daenerys fans are delusional, I don’t think she will have a happy ending either. It truly seems that the books are headed towards her having some dark times. But for reasons, I have already elaborated in other comments, I do think that like the show, she will not be accepted by the people of Westeros. I do think that something horrific will happen in Kings Landing, for which she will be blamed. But I think all of this will happen before she heads north. I truly think that one of the messages of the book series is that fighting over the Iron Throne is a terrible waste. Particularly when the real threat to this world is whatever happened to cause the cycles of death and life to become unnatural, including whatever brought about the rise of the White Walkers. And in the end, Daenerys will realize that her true purpose is to help Jon solve this threat to humanity. As the Breaker of Chains, Daenerys will help free the Wights from their eternal slavery. And I expect her to die in the process. Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps she will go mad and need to be put down. But I honestly think that is a terrible story that goes against everything that these books are really about. So I continue to encourage people to read the books. I have some thoughts about what the ending might be for other characters. It is a popular fan theory that Jamie will kill Cersei. And I think that is probably right. I do think that Sansa will end up ruling in the north. Unlike the show, I think she will deserve it. I honestly don’t know if Arya will live or die. You can point to things in the books that could be clues in other direction. But I do think that Arya will eventually come to learn that revenge is not the fulfilling path that she thinks it is. It seems that Bran will end up on a throne. But I fully expect his story to have much more to it. I really don’t know what will happen to Tyrion, but his character arc is much darker in the books. Peter Dinklage was such a fan favorite that I don’t think they wanted to take him down that darker path. Bronn is a much more minor character in the books, although he does have an interesting story arc. I don’t see him as Lord of Highgarden, if he makes it to the end. I do think that Sam, Brienne, Davos and Pod are all likely to make it to the end of the story. I cannot even hazard a guess at what will happen to Jon in the end. There is just still too much unknown about the mystery of what is truly going on in the North. And of course, there are quite a few other important characters in the books that never made it into the show, but will play important parts in the remaining story. This includes many characters from Dorne and the Iron Islands. I am expecting Theon to have a heroic death. But it will probably be quite different from the show. And I do think that Littlefinger will die because Sansa will turn on him. But I don’t expect there to be any crazy subplot where he plays Sansa and Arya against each other. I’m not going to hazard a guess for Sandor or Gendry, other than to say that their stories are quite different in the books and involve many other characters that the show never included. I have enjoyed re-watching this series through the eyes of all of you. I do hope you watch The Last Watch documentary and have a final video where you discuss the overall series, as well as it’s ending. I plan to continue to watch the reactions that you all have for House of the Dragon and hope that you plan to watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms when it comes out next year.

I stopped one and started the other to see if it was better and kept going back and forth, but they are essentially set in the same historical time period and regions so I kept getting characters confused between the two shows. BUT coming off GOT so freshly, it can definitely feel super cheesy im sorry 😭 it also adds an interesting perspective to later GOT seasons because as sloppy as that writing felt, it makes me realize it only felt that way compared to its own earlier seasons. the writing in both Vikings and The Last Kingdom are so all over the place and pretty messy if we are being real. I kinda fell off Vikings mid season 4 as well but ill finish it at some point. its the kind of tv that is like i can genuinely enjoy watching it but i can also pretty easily get distracted from it by something better. . seeing a lot of The Last Kingdom and Vikings recommendations in here for next show... but i have to say i think it is a mistake to watch either of them directly after GOT. i started The Last Kingdom right after GOT ended live in 2019 because i was just wanted something in the same realm to pacify me and i dont think i got past the first episode before i had to shut it down. comparatively, coming off GOT it felt so corny.. i actually think i laughed out loud during the first battle sequence.. i have since come back to it and made it to season 3 but then kinda fell off again... I will probably finish it at some point because i do like it it is good.. but i DEFINITELY would not watch it right after GOT. give it some time. watch something else in another genre to cleanse the palate.

It’s still so crazy to me how the rewatch hurts just as bad the 2nd time around… the disappointment and emptiness one feels after rewatching a whole 6 seasons of peak and then knowing what became of each of your favorite characters and how the writers demolish them in the last 2 seasons… it’s truly indescribable in the worst way. With that said… getting to experience this show through the eyes of others is a new and exciting (almost healing) experience on its own. Yeah stuff like Cannon predicting Jorah's death every season but the one he died, cuz you got tired? Carter predicting Theon's redemptive death in like episode 1, Brig predicting everything a couple scenes before lol. There's a lot they picked up on way early on because of great perception to the writing. I also remember them being so gungho about Dany just going straight to KL with the dragons and burning it all, which was super interesting to see as a reaction from the pov of people basically Targaryen loyalists because of HotD, and how the whole journey and way it goes down changed that energy.

I love GoT but hate how the show ends. I pray that we can get a proper ending from the books but every day that dream feels a little more desperate. I'm glad you guys (Carter at least) feels the same way I do about the show and the world being unparalleled in the first 4 seasons compared to any other show out there. It's truly a generational show. I've never been as immersed in another live action show as I have in GoT. It used to feel so realistic and like a fleshed out world, which is all the more reason that its downfall is a tragedy. I really do think you guys should check out the books, or at least watch some lore videos and see the differences in how things are played out. Yara is renamed from Asha Greyjoy who has more charisma and Euron is a real character although still detestable. There are members of the north who are still loyal to Robb and scheming against the Boltons and Freys. Dorne is waaay better in the books to say the least. There's reasons to still love the series and look forward to its future if it ever gets finished.

As a book reader, I have to laugh when people say she's going to be the Mad Queen in the books🙄 She's arguably the MOST MAGICAL character, girly unhatched 3 dragons, is THE MAIN character in the books. She was the first Targaryen character GRRM created, then he created the other Targaryen characters just for her story and you're telling me he's going to give her a basic ass Targaryen ending🤭 BE SO FOR REAL. In the Geks defense, the initial reaction a lot of people had including myself was "his character is ruined" and everything else in the show going to shit puts you in a negative mood. Its only later on you kind of start to see things differently once you give it some time and those initial emotions are gone. If Jamie was saying that he didn't care about the people to lie to himself because he can't understand why he'd still go back to Cersei, to me it didn't come off that way. He was talking to Tyrion, that's something he mightve done if he was talking to Ned or Catelyn. I doubt he couldn't be honest with himself and Tyrion. Maybe it's something in the scene and his delivery doesn't really make me feel that. But if that's what they were going for it would've been fine if done better(like everything else).

I have been waiting to talk about this... here is my take on what the finale actually means especially with the context of the books. Bloodraven (the prior 3 eyed raven) is not a good guy.. and Bran is him.. the 3 eyed raven is not some human savior and he knows everything; even some of the future. that means that Bran (once he took the powers of the 3eyed raven) knew all events.. the long night and Arya, then Dany going fire and blood on Kings Landing, John killing her, and him being named king. Bloodraven was waiting for Bran to start this all and knew it all as well... Bran says 'why do you think I came all this way?' - hes the VILLIAN. it ends with the actual big baddie as the king and they dont even really use that at all. I feel like thats the only redeeming part of the finale and its played off as the best case scenario and perfect king

I only called it simple minded because it’s been multiple episodes in a row of “his character is completely ruined”. I completely understand wanting him to be the good guy in the end, no problems here with anyone who wants that, was mainly just the part where since that didn’t happen, it therefore means he’s a ruined and now trash character. Edit: I also think him saying “I never really cared much for [the people]” was fine… you can see the mental turmoil he has to go through to try to justify what his emotions are ‘making’ him do throughout most of the show , and this is another example of him outwardly lying to himself and who he’s talking to (I forgot who in that scene) to give some kind of explanation why after everything that’s happened and everything he’s been through, that in the end, he will always choose her over everything

Even though Edmure shouldn’t have tried to claim the throne, I do feel bad for him with how much he got clowned on by his own niece. The guy had his wedding turned into a slaughter where he lost his sister and his realm, then he became a prisoner for multiple years whilst his and his infant son’s lives were repeatedly threatened. Was my 5th time watching now and i still feel the same. Even on my first watch i didn't actually hate the ending at all. I always thought they weren't going to end it how people "want" it to end or whatever, so to me it was always just bout seeing what am i gonna be surprised about. The whole ending sequence is surprisingly satisfactory to me and seeing Jon go beyond the wall with the main theme playing just sparks such warm nostalgia in me. I hope despite your strong (but warranted) feelings about the downfall of the show you'll revisit it sometime and find some new aspect to enjoy. At times it's hard to recall that he was the same person that pushed Bran, forced himself on Cersei at Joffrey's FUNERAL with his body still THERE, killed his cousin like he even said to Brienne. In a way, his arc was mirrored with Dany's. People hoped they would change but they stayed who they were. Except Dany didn't really go back to who she's always been but rather turned into who she never wanted to be. I can totally see where GRRM would be going with this but neither event had a satisfying feeling in the show. I honestly do like Jaime better as a grey character because it makes him more human as you said and more interesting. And yeah a lot of people can't really change who they are at their core. He was both good and bad. The real crime done to his character was when he said, "I never really cared much for [the people]." This completely contradicted his most defining moment—killing the Mad King to stop him from burning the innocent people alive. It was a defining scene where he tells this story to Brienne and we as an audience realize that despite everything, he couldn’t bring himself to follow such a horrific order because he did care about the people. And yes his connection with Cersei was deeper than anything else he cared for and that was pretty evident throughout the show. He even stayed with her after she blew up the Sept and a bunch of innocents. If only they did both of these arcs better, more comprehensive and better structured, it could have been epic.

"It doesn't make sense for Arya to be an adventurer and her ending"- ARYA- it's not like she spent the ENTIRE show wondering around basically on her own to new places, and learning how to be on her own since she was a child... this is what she knows... SANSA- the girl who from the moment we first saw her wanted to be queen, and went through hell learning how to stand her ground and earn her freedom, and now that she has it she will never give it up, as well as she is the only stark who can carry on as the head of Winterfell like her father and his family before him.. JON-who has said TOO MANY times how he doesn't want to be king, and doesn't even really like being the leader, but loves the freedom of the north. as we see over and over again him being told, "you have the TRUE north in you" by Tormund and Ygritte, etc. he is happiest in the north and now he gets to be free in the north away from all the backstabbing and bull of politics. which is what he wanted from the beginning of the show as well. **sidenote-they got so much screen time and the biggest ending shots of the episode because the stark children are the main characters of the show, the entire story centers around them and what happened to her dad Ned. DANY- even her dream of breaking the wheel comes true. you were upset because bran can't have kids etc. so how will his line continue but that's the ENTIRE point. it won't be handed down to some spoiled prince or princess who is terrible as we have seen over and over in the show instead, they will have to choose someone to take his place. BREAKING the cycle(wheel) of the politics. so no, it wasn't the happiest ending for her, but her character still accomplished what she was supposed to do for the plot. nothing else. **Disclaimer- by no means am I saying this is a perfect ending or there aren't TONS of flaws but whining just because it's not the ending you specifically want is dumb, if you pay attention this ENTIRE show is NOT getting what you want and putting your duty before ALL ELSE. so, achieving the big goals of the story without happy endings was always going to be the end... Plus even though this technically isn't cannon all of the groundwork for the ending here were laid out in the first few season of the show which ARE CANNON, PLUS from watching the cannon seasons out of the books by George you know he does not give happily ever afters, so don't be surprised that if he ever puts out and end to the series it won't be a happy one...

I'm sorry but what? Their reactions are more then justified, how would Bran be saving Jon from Grey Worm if Grey Worm knows there's no more Nights Watch? Pretty disappointed with this reaction. If you have a specific complaint then tell us how you change it. For example you were freaking out when Bran sent Jon to the nights watch. Bran knew and you should have known there was no more watch, he was saving Jon from Gray worm. Then Jon went north of the wall where the 1st scene of ep 1 started. Bran does not want to be King but does it out of duty. Tywin-what makes a good King-wisdom. What does Bran have- the world's memories and not emotions-wisdom. By the way you never discussed the central theme of the show--hint to rewatch the maester Aemon dialogs. Starting with Ned and then transferring to Jon it is love vs duty or honor. Making the hard choices and always doing what's right. That is what Jon struggled with for 8 seasons including this finale when he finally chose duty over love and stabbed Danny. Jon and Danny were the prince and princess who were promised, they were a Song of Ice and Fire. I would still strongly recommend a couple of short fan videos. The White Wolf is a tribute to Jon's character solely from show clips and a musical score. The other is R+L=J, also only show clips because both of these go straight to the heart of the show. Rant over.

George recently updated in his blog that he's made some progress on Winds of Winter. I think he's been facing his mortality even more so lately. He's just lost some very close life long friends 😢. He's known to be very passive aggressive lol, and when the final episode of GoT aired he gushed about a totally different show with dragons instead. He's clearly unhappy with where HoTD is going too. The writers room have effectively shunned him, and he's pissed that this is happening again for the SECOND time! The silver lining in this is that it's pushed him to actually work on Winds. Because people keep ragging on him about how he's a millionaire now so he can't complain about anything,,, when he's not taking any of that money to the grave. & I guess the recent events in his life have been underscoring what's actually important, and it's the integrity and true vision of his art and story. I wish the best for the old man but for God's sake he wrote a whole ass, fake in-universe history book, instead of finishing Winds 😭... At his age I still believe he can go at 70% of his original writing speed, but I think he's just tied himself into too many knots with his storylines that he doesn't even know how to proceed. The internet will break if/when The Winds of Winter is finally released, but we are absolutely NEVER getting A Dream of Spring. 💀

My last rant here since I'm gone now that GoT is over: I couldn’t disagree more with your takes on Daenerys and that there were “hints” and “foreshadowing” that I would become the mad queen or a tyrant. Saying that me massacring slavers (who were my enemies on the battlefield and literally killed and mutilated children) or me burning the Khals (who were about to gang rape) or me killing the Tarlys (who were my enemies on the battlefield) were hints that foreshadowed that I would then go street by street burning every innocent person in King’s Landing makes absolutely zero sense. That was the exact explanation D&D gave to try to justify the sudden shift in Dany's ENTIRE character, and so many people buy into it. 🤬🤬🤬 People also like to point out comments I’ve made, such as when I said I would lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground (which I think I’ve said a total of 2 times in the entire show). There is a difference between saying things to scare your enemies, and what my actions towards the innocent and vulnerable actually were. Actions speak louder than words. Take every “bad” thing I’ve done (if you can even call killing my enemies bad) or hyperbole I’ve used, and compare that to the countless people I’ve tried to help, and there is no way you can conclude that they were foreshadowing all along that I would then pivot to nuke a city full of civilians, especially AFTER the enemy had already surrendered. It doesn't even make sense!!!

Thinking jaimes character is ruined because of what he does in this show is such a simple minded marvel enjoyer take that it legitimately bothers me that people that consider themselves "cinema enthusiats" could be so boring to only want the most basic of basic character arcs where 'bad guy becomes good over time'. That just not how humans are most of the time, its soooooo much more real and hard hitting that despite all of the good Jaime has managed to do despite where he started... he cant escape and let go of the 1 person he has left in the world that he truly and always has loved. Its always been the 2 of them over anything else... ALWAYS. The relationship he had with brienne wasnt weird or out of nowhere, it was real, theyve been through a lot together, they admire each other, brienne clearly loves him, and he seemingly loves her to an extent, BUT absolutely NOTHING can overshadow what he feels for Cersei and everything hes experienced with her including the child shes carrying thats HIS. People CAN have the regular 'bad to good' arc and it wouldnt be bad writing if that happened, but theyve done more than enough to show this was likely the outcome for Jaime in the end, and for me is the kind of thing that makes this show one of the best of all time. its not just comepletely a show about showing people doing things, it IS people and their range of emotions and actions based on those very real human emotions regardless of whether or not someone from the outside can emotionlessly logic their way thru them or not, because that is how emotions are, theyre not always solidly logical, but the feelings are just as real as anything else. ----- Still love this channel and this group of guys for getting me excited to start watching reaction content again and ill stick around for a long time... this is just something that triggers me in a certain way mostly cause I think i used to be the same way

I think that just his character, he did something he thought needed to done but is also very dishonorable in his eyes. He probably felt like dying from all the trauma and deaths and his own actions, and pretty much accepted death when he thought Drogon was going to burn him alive. So, after a near-death experience, he must've lost his will and gave himself up and let someone else do what didn't happen/what he can't do himself, which is to die.

I agree. Personally I think he knew he was going to be King. If he stepped into the Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North position, Jon would have become just a bastard son and Sansa would have been married off to form an alliance. For him to become King he had to let everyone play their part. Jon says to him at the end I’m sorry I couldn’t be there when you needed me. Bran says you were right where you were supposed to be. Sansa didn’t fight to have Jon released because if he was she could never be queen. The people would have followed him not her. By having him sent to the wall where he could hold no titles she is neutralizing his ability to be in a position of power in the North. Why do you think she said to him Can you forgive me? They both know what she did. He never answers that question! He just says she will be a good ruler. He knows what game she was playing. Between Tyrion manipulating him at the last minute and Sansa spreading the secret he was a pawn for both of them. Sansa is queen. Tyrion is the Hand. They both played Jon. She put him in a position where he would either have to become King or kill Dany to survive. As Danny said to Tyrion why do you think Sansa told you? She trusted you to spread secrets that would destroy your own queen. Dany said to Jon you can’t tell Sansa. You won’t be able to control it. It will destroy us. Sansa was playing the game of thrones by exposing Jon. She wanted him to either become King so she could rule in the North or overthrow Dany to protect himself from her eliminating him as a threat. Look what happened in HOTD. Once Jon made it clear the romance was over could she allow him to live knowing people would rally behind him. Two Targaryens have a claim. One is a man who the people love the other is a woman who burned down Kings Landing and was set to do the same from Winterfell to Dorne. People would have rallied behind him. Sansa used him just as Dany tried to explain to Jon she would. Dany lost her life and Sansa got what she wanted. An independent kingdom that she rules. Sending him to the Nights Watch neutralized his claim. He can’t have children or hold titles. The same way it was for Maester Aemon. Kit in interviews after the show when asked why Jon killed her. He said the majority of the decision was based on him wanting to protect Sansa. In 6x9 when Sansa says No one can protect me. He promised to protect her. He was standing by his word. Then was sentenced to the Nights Watch for it. These are just my personal opinions everyone else may not see it the same way.

I guess I am in the minority. The only issue I had with the last seasons was not being longer and having 10 episodes. I think yall were already at a disadvantage when the opinion of many folks was out there and watching it EXPECTING the last seasons to be bad. Also, when 1 or 2 people in a group are shitting on a show it usually spreads to the others. I didn't enjoy the last seasons as much as the first ones but I didn't rend my garments about it. GoT was often unpredictable.

In interviews Matt Smith talked about when Daemon sees Dani in his vision he thinks that could be his daughter. That’s one thing that motivates him to choose Rhaenyra. Also I think the writers wanted to give in a quiet tie in to the fans of the fact that Emilia Clark and Matt Smith were close friends even before GOT. They had been spending a lot of time together when HOTD was filming. And according to Matt Smith they are both fire proof which only seems like there must be more to the story of why that is. We know those writers have diverted his whole story away from the books. Hopefully they will come up with something good as far as being fireproof goes.

Bran letting the North be independent makes no sense; Dorne would have immediately demanded their independence, and the Iron Isles were promised their independence in return for fighting for Daenerys. Arya was right about Sansa, she was always had ambitions to be a queen - ever since the first season in fact, when she betrayed her own father by going and telling Cersei his plans to secretly leave King's Landing... all because she wanted to marry the revolting Joffrey and become a Queen. Glad you watched the series! It is a ride haha. I’ve seen game of thrones 5 times now it’s still my favorite show and I’m reading the books even though this ending is terrible. I’m somehow more disappointed from house of dragons season two though after reading that book. I think missandei dying, along with the truth about Jon and Varys and tyrions betrayal just made Dany break. I also wish cersi would’ve died in a much worse and on camera way. No satisfaction in that death. Jamie is my favorite character by far. I don’t see him as being a rat in the end. He left cersi to fight for the living knowing he could’ve been killed by dany to avenge her father or the walkers. That was a very selfless act. But in the end he didn’t want cersi to die alone and loved her and made his choice. For me it doesn’t take away all he’s been through as a character and his choices he made along the way showing his good morals. I hated Sansa the whole time and also hated she is queen. The north should’ve loved having a stark on the throne. Whoever the next kings or queens are will just start wars with the north always wanting them to bend the knee it’s stupid. But excited to hear your final thoughts! Even after years of watching for the first time I still love these characters and this world

Well said. Except I'll point out one more thing on the Tarlys: D&D tried to retcon Randyll Tarly being a "good honorable man" this season. Sure, Dickon was innocent enough. But was everyone supposed to forget Randy was going to literally murder Sam? The entire Tarly arc is ridiculous. Tarlys were Targaryen loyalists during Robert's Rebellion, and sworn to the Tyrells. They backed Renly. They realistically should have zero allegiance to Cersei, daughter of Tywin who they hated for betraying the Targs and she herself who murdered ALL the Tyrells including the rightful, beloved queen Marjorie. Realistically, they should have showed up on the doorstep of Dragonstone ready to kneel.

I was so happy that the Starks were on top, as they should be. Everything they went through to get to where they are now. Bran is King of the Six Kingdoms, Sansa is Queen in the North, Arya is off on her exploration adventure, and Jon, King beyond the wall maybe? Ned would be proud! My only complaint is how it was rushed. We should have had at least another two seasons to end it properly, and to tie up some loose ends. Of course there are things that I wish would have been done differently with certain characters, but in the end, the house that I have been rooting for for eight seasons, Rules, literally. I love this show and will never think ill of it. It got me through some rough times. It's like nothing I've ever seen before. I'm not going to let some bad writing choices by D&D ruin how incredible this experience was, how majestic the sets were, how so many scenes filled me with awe and excitement, and how epic it was.

The issue is that David and Dan didn't use Bran for anything significant; his journey was almost entirely meaningless other than acting as bait. I wouldn't want Jon to be king, or at least not show Jon. In terms of the living characters as they are in the show, I'd probably say Davos lmao, but this wouldn't happen. If I could use book-exclusive characters or change show characters to be more like their book counterparts, my answer would be different.

The moment Jon did the kiss stab..the show turned into CW i couldn't even feel anything at that point. Dany went from savior, to villain and then killed in one episode. Jon went through 8 seasons of stuff just to be right back where he started. Bran is the king and Tyrion is somehow still the hand. The characters i loved were unrecognizable in season 8 and i think their conclusions were a huge slap in the face after 10 years of watching..but the journey was 1 of 1 no question.

The problem with Jamie's arc is this: He isn't conflicted. He "betrays" Cersei by ditching her to keep his vow and head north, with zero remorse. Then he "betrays" her again after all these years by sleeping with Breanne, with zero remorse. Then he ditches Breanne for Cersei at the drop of a hat, with zero remorse. Those should be very difficult decisions for him, but they are treated as inconsequential and spontaneous and completley decided, rather than conflicted and emotionally wrecking. We get the ridiculous "I'm hateful" and "I never much cared for the innocent" throwaways that match nothing of what we know of his character and what we know he thinks of himself. Him going back to Cersei in the end is best explained by his love for his lover and unborn child, not some twist "I'm secretly a villian" monologue. Him making all those same decisions falls in line with his character, but it shouldn't be *easy* for him to do so.

I can't speak for Geks, but for me it's that Jon doesn't get any choice. He was forced to make a terrible choice and then betrayed and killed this woman he loved to save the people, and he is banished like any criminal. He did the right thing all his life, like the man who raised him. If he had been pardoned and chose to return north with the wildlings, to retire to a life of peace, I think it would feel different. Greyworm notwithstanding. I don't think there's any logic where Greyworm accepts Jon living. But I also don't see Greyworm on board with Dani slaughtering the entire city either so logic is out the window.

There were tons of red flags with Dany, so I was sure she will go bonkers and someone will have to kill her (my guess was Arya for very long time). Her last flip into madness was unexpected for some, but you would be surprised how fast can some people turn into complete monsters after years of piling up the anger. The way they did it though and how fast they ended the season, it just felt like finishing a checklist they were handed without any extra thought. What hurt me the most personally was the dialogue quality (dropping down since season 4). If even Hodor lived longer, the quality would go much higher. Bran's lines were weird (but that's the point, he does not see reality just in present). Jon being forced to return to Night Watch was hilarious and poetic imho, same with Tyrion being the hand again. I don't mind the ending, I hate the execution.

Sure absolutely, they couldn't have reasonably done 20 seasons because of other logistical reasons, but 9 or 10 full seasons gives everyone a reasonable end. I think the perfect version of the show would have Dani coming to Westeros as roughly the halfway point of the story, but 3 or 4 full seasons could probably do it justice. Instead, we got *thirteen* episodes. For her to learn Westerosi politics, recruit people to her cause, fall in love with Jon, take on his cause and play politics with his people and family, find out he's the real heir, be jealous of the adoration people have for Jon, lose one dragon, lose a second dragon, be reuinited with Jorah, have Jorah sacrifice himself for her, have Dornish allies murdered, have Tyrell allies murdered, have ironborn captured, have ironborn allies rescued, have Missandei murdered in front of her, have 4 battles against Lannister-side armies, be betrayed and attemped murder by Varys, take on Cersei, go on a sidequest to capture a dead man, and defeat the Night King and his army. Oh, and go mad and burn a million civilians and then get murdered. On paper, it doesn't even make sense if you try to write it all over again, but better, in thirteen episodes. And that's just Dani's direct plotpoints, let alone all her adversaries and other major characters and the plotlines they dropped.

To be fair, some of the failures shouldn't have happened in the first place. It's not feasible for Jaime to take Highgarden or for Euron's fleet to appear out of thin air. It also shows that she can't create actual solutions. Whenever she isn't listening to him, she is killing people, often unnecessarily.

The only part that made me feel anything was Sansa’s coronation. She survived the Lannisters, she survived Ramsay, she survived the Long Night. Girl EARNED that shit. I honestly love how full circle it is, but with a twist. She always wanted to be queen and back then the only way that could happen was by marrying a king. But she ended up on her throne as a single independent, so unlike the starry-eyed princess who once could not see past her traditional dreams of marrying a prince. Sansa’s arc is the only one I’m satisfied with at all.

I think you can simplify the entirety of the later seasons to David and Dan being good/decent with adaptations, but not tying together plotlines themselves. Think of how George must feel trying to finish the books. He has more characters and plotlines, which have significantly more complexity than their show counterparts. You have Aegon Targaryen (Young Griff) conquering Westeros while Dany is still in Essos; Euron Greyjoy has full Valyrian steel armor and a horn that can bend dragons to his will; Lady Stoneheart is seeking out her revenge; Jon Snow is still dead and will probably be more ruthless/cold when he comes back. Even Ilyrio the cheese merchant plays a large role in the books, a CHEESE MERCHANT lol. There are SO MANY other plotlines and characters. I think Theon's larger role in the show (so far) was at least cool.

Totally agree! I could have so gotten behind a heel turn if it was done very well, but it would have needed the appropriate number of seasons to be executed properly. Daenerys as we knew her for seven seasons slaughtering millions of innocent women and children was just not plausible whatsoever. It’s hard for me to ever accept she would kill innocent people after how much she went to great lengths to always champion for them and protect them, but it still could have been doable. Then I could have appreciated her as a villain. But I just can’t even accept this version of her as canon because it was so poorly and unconvincingly orchestrated.

Why are they so upset by Jon not ending up in a position of power? Show Jon doesn't want to rule and returning to the North is honestly one of the few parts of the ending that I don't have a huge problem with. I would've rather had it be of his own volition though. I can understand being upset with Greyworm giving in, but that's about it. Maybe they'll explain it in some sort of logical manner in the discussion at the end. If any of the Geks read the books, they might be disappointed as they'll probably have a bittersweet ending too (if they ever get an ending, that is).

It says all you need to know that after Emilia read the script, she went for a long walk of allegedly five hours to just cry. She put her heart and soul into this character. Daenerys in the last two episodes of this series is just not Daenerys to me at all, but I do think Emilia did a flawless job portraying this switch up even if the transition was incredibly bad writing-wise. Even when she was so clearly devastated by the awful ending for Daenerys and her legacy, she put her all into it to the very end.

The way Cersei went down was so pathetic. They built her up to be the penultimate villain of the series - then gave her NOTHING to do except stand on balconies and sneer. When she finally meets her end, it’s from being crushed by debris while she snivels and simpers. Give me a break! Jaime’s ending sucked too, but not nearly as bad seeing as it at least made some sense. Yes, it TRASHES his development and I hate it, but at least it encompasses a realistic portrayal of the cycle of abuse. I still love Jaime. He did become a better person. But his love for his sister - or rather, obsession was just too great - and the hold she had on him too powerful. But that is the case with a lot of relationships with this similar dynamic. I can forgive Jaime running back to Cersei so she won’t die alone in this sense even if it is a terrible resolution for his character who deserved SO MUCH BETTER. What I cannot forgive though is how LAME the way Cersei met her end was. This all-powerful diabolical queen built up to be a true force of reckoning over the last seven years goes out with a pitiful whimper. The only female character - if even just ANY character - to get a satisfying ending was Sansa. Her becoming queen all on her own merit, just as she always wanted to be, but without a man to stand by was a truly beautiful ending to her arc. The rest..well.

Does not really make for the show sense considering they flush most of the magical/fantasy stuff down the toilet. GOT remains my second favourite show behind AOT, and probably will stay my favourite live action show for ever. Season 8 is truly the biggest crime in television history and makes pretty much everyone who sees it feel physical pain and disgust. Addressing what you said about us defending Dany in previous episodes. PLEASE read this through fully. The problem was that Dany burning Tarlys and asking them to bend the knee is a REASONABLE thing to do. Not good or really great but reasonable. If we ignore episodes 5 & 6 all Dany did made sense. It's the reactions of the characters around her that didn't. There wasn't much forshadowing in her actions as much as it was in what everyne else said ABOUT her. All the reasonable stuff she did or said, from burning the Tarlys (I will exlain why it was right at the end), asking Jon to keep the secret of his heritage, being angry at Tyrion, wanting to destroy Cersei, etc. was constantly overshadowed by this FORCED narrative. It was as if writers didn't bother with writing a proper character arc. They expected some confusion about her 'mad king' arc so they created all those dialogues between Tyrion and Varys and other characters where they doubt Dany, so that they could point fingers and be like 'look, Tyrion and everyone else saw it and said it so it DID make sense". HOWEVER, it still doesn't change the fact that there is almost ZERO reasoning behind their doubts and betrayals and words. Dany's goods in first 4 episodes outweigh the bad. She ALWAYS listened to her advisors, except with burning Tarlys but letting them live would be a HUGE mistake anyway. She went North for Jon, fought against the army of dead, avoided bloodshed, tried to connect with Sansa, and even after finding out Jon's true heritage she didn't express any desire to kill him, no she felt only FEAR of losing support of people. Tyrion and Varys would snicker behind her back after she listened to their advice and lost a dragon as if she just murdered someone. Sansa and Arya would scorn at her after she lost thousands of her men to fight the night king. And yes defeating night king was something that was needed to be done to stay alive, but she still didn't have to do it. She could have refused to help or blame or demand something crazy in return if she truly was evil, but no she did none of that. She only asked for the army to overthrow Cersei, which Starks wanted anyway. The fact that she fought for North shouldn't be taken for granted, because in a GOT universe not many soon to be kings would risk losing their men especiallly when they came all the way to use the said army for the throne About Tarlys. Tell me how killing the house and army in fair battle is wrong. She gave them a choice and they made it, Dude, if Rob was there he would do the same thing except instead of burning he would execute them. Because in this world as we've seen time and time again you can't let your enemies live. If Dany listened to Tyrion and put them in a cell, which I don't see any other character who was at war doing, there would be a high chance of them going against her in the future. Let alone what it represents. Does it mean that anyone who fights against her gets to have that choice of just refusing to accept her and getting to live. If she continued like that, no one would take her seriously and at the end all those people she let to live would come back bite her in in the ass. Okay then you may ask 'she wouldn't do that to everyone just the Tarlys'. and i would ask back why do Tullys get the special treatment, 'Oh because they are honorable' well it doesn't stop them from being her enemies. Tyrion is honorable and Ser Davos is honorable too, doesn't mean that at one point they wouldn't kill each other at the spot for their house back in the battle of black water. The thng is that it's not a Disney world. All these people are enemies of each other. Tullys SERVED house lannister therefore they served Cersei. The thing is that if Tarlyswere like Boltons and Tyrion suggested to keep them alive it wouldn't make sense. The show purposefully made the one house she destroyed to be the Tullys to throw a pity party. If it was the old game of thrones of seasons 1-4, Tyrion wouldn't even suggest this shit. An even if he did and Dany still killed them yeah some people would be sad but ultimately the characters and the viewrs would agree it was necessary. But since D&D wanted to create some 'explanation' to her villain arc they purposefully focused on that thing to make her look evil. This is game of thrones, and the best part was how realistic and unique it was. We saw Tyrion use that green fire against his enemies, Robb sacrifice 2000 men to Tywin and execute the head of the house who was loyal to him for disobeying ONE order and therefore committing treason, Ned Stark killing a nights watch deserter, etc. Objectively none of it is a good thing to do, but in the world of GOT i doesn't matter. All those good men do these things out of necessity and we never got the pity party, show moved on. But ofc it didn't when it came to Dany. Suddenly writers wanted to make viewers feel like she was a villain and made characters react in a way that doesn't fit the world they live in and their past actions. Using Dany's " I'm gonna break the wheel" speech to be like ' oh but we expect these stuff out of all the other characters but not Dany because she wants to be different from others' doesn't really make sense. Breaking the wheel is not about never killing or burning anyone. It was about not being a Tyrant who would hold feasts and eat everything while the common folk starved. It was about finding compromise with those WILLING to do so. It was about listening to your advisors regardless of their gender, body, house an background (like with Tyrion and Varys). It was about uniting people from across the narrow sea with Westeros and freed slaves. And of course in order to do so she would first need to use fire and blood, not naive stupidity and lack of action. Which was all Dany did right up until 8x5. Her character arc doesn't make sense at all. i don't see it as a proper foreshadowing. the real forshadowing was in AOT. It showed us glimses of real eren and what he is capable of. What GOT did wsn't foreshadoiwng as it didn' t show glimpses of a mad Dany. it was just poor writing that was supposed to be use as a justification. They planned this ending,kknew it didn't make sense and went backwards to make up crazy plot lines. that's not how writing works. It's the characters actions that should ultimately lead to an ending that is JUSTIFIED. GOT season 8 did it exactly backwards. P.S. I am sorry for any mistakes and repetitions. It's 2 am and I am trying my best to explain it lmao. I wasn't a Dany fan on my first watch. It's exactly on the rewatch that I realized how awesome she was and how bad the writers and characters around her failed her. The 8x5 and 8x6 crazy Dany is NOT justifiable, please don't think I am doing that.

well no not exactly, but he certainly didnt start off the show a villian... hes our protagonist and your definitely rooting for him...until youre not. and the moment in the show where that switch happens is different for everyone i think because it is complicated and elicits complicated emotions and he DEFINITELY gets darker and darker as the show goes on but then you also see glimpses of good in him all the way up to the very end. that is what makes him one of the best tv villians ever written. and they had the opportunity to do a similar thing with dany and they just chucked it.

My favorite moments of the show is Arya and the hound. All their scenes can't pick one. Tyrions speech Hodor reveal Robb being alive lol When Theon and Robb both chopped the heads. Geographically there are so many vague correlations to real locations, all from completely different eras. I agree about groupthink being real but with Daenerys becoming "a villain out of nowhere" I feel like they gave enough to leave it a possibility without directly foreshadowing it. I personally didn't and still wouldn't want to be able to predict her switching at the end. But the whole "Gods flip a coin every time a Targaryen is born" phrase and someone in the show saying something about her coin still being in the air or something like that. She's also not always been pure good to me in the way Jon was. If Jon were to turn "villain" at the end it would've genuinely caught me off guard. But not with Daenerys I feel like the show has shown enough of her struggling to do what is good.

I agree, I wasn't nearly as disappointed when I first watched as it aired. I *was* disappointed that Daenerys seemed to become a villain out of nowhere. There was no arch and that betrayed her character imo. I also didn't like the ending Jon was given considering the Targaryen reveal (which turned out to mean nothing), however I did feel satisfaction seeing him back in the North. So while there was definitely a lot to be upset about, I lowkey feel like the boys wouldn't have been as disappointed had they not been primed to be.. Groupthink is real.

I love scenes that lock in on character development and lore building, so all time favorite has got to be the bathtub scene with Jamie and Brienne. We get a better understanding of Jamie's outlook on the world, and we are challenged (like Brienne) to question the moral standards we hold ourselves to. The craziest part is that there's so much incredible action and conflict, literal wars and death and revolution, and none of it is on screen. We still feel how this impacts characters in current day, though. That's what makes ASOIAF and GoT (in the first few seasons) real for fans.

Favorite moment is so hard OMG. I love LF & Varys in the throne room, especially when Varys says "the Lyssa Arryn of chairs" 🤣🤣🤣 I honestly love the moment when Catelyn screams, even though I can't hear it anymore, it shows the potential there was for Michelle Fairley to play THE BEST live action LADY STONEHEART, maybe my fav book concept character besides the potential of LF. I love the scene when they reveal where Arya and Gendry are on the road, because they play LFs theme 😄 and it's such a great tie in. I think my most favorite is actually when Jaime is leaving Kings Landing and snow falls in his hand. Him there alone for the first time, finally making the ultimate honorable choice and ... winter is here. But I'm a complete sucker for subtext and that scene is only that, so might be why. Cinematic fav scene is the 6x10 open sequence, and Jon on the battlefield in 6x9. Fav other line is when Mirri Mazz explains "what life is worth when all the rest is gone ...." "I will be your champion." *chills* If you read all that 😁

I'm the same as Cannon. This is the first time I've (sort of) watched GOT since the finale aired. Nothing has made me feel better, and seasons 1-4 are my favorite seasons of TV. I was very attached to the show and the characters, and when season 8 was airing, there were things going on in my life that were some of the worst things I have ever dealt with. Daenerys is my comfort character, books and show even, despite the differences. Episode 5 was a catalyst for me, and sort of tipped me over an edge and made me spiral. Again, there were VASTLY horrible things going on in my life at the time, and I was very fragile at the time. Episode 5 and 6 were that feather that triggered an avalanche. That being said, I have taken solace in the books. I have been reading the books for 20+ years, and this last year alone I've read them 3 times. I'm endlessly inspired by ASOIAF. I myself am writing a book, and for the first time in about 5 years, I've actually been writing. Maybe it's because I've been on this journey with you guys, and have watched GOT for the first time since season 8. I do hope you read the books, all of you. And I'm sure it's old by now, but I hope you read the books without show bias. Daenerys' character was changed in the show. Season 1 is the only season that they kept her character the same. There are others who were changed, but Daenerys' change felt malicious, especially in the end. I'm a Jon fan, but a lot of Jon fans hate Dany (bc she's what they want him to be, the PTWP, the hero of the story), and I think that D&D took Danys character away from her because they wanted to put that spotlight onto Jon instead. Sorry for rambling. I hope you guys read the books, and maybe someday even update us on those changes (for every character) and tell us how you feel. I'm especially curious about Dany (obvious), but I'm also curious about how you'd feel about Jorah, who you guys love in the show, and Jon.

And now our watch has ended. It's truly an epic journey! Even though the ending is possibly the worst of all time, it is just a testament to how absolutely amazing the first half of the show is that Game of Thrones is still considered one of the best shows of all time. Cannon, the way your feeling is how we all felt when these episodes first aired. It was really hard, and there was literally global backlash at how bad it was. But time heals all wounds :) It's so hard to watch Daenerys' character assassination since even in the final episode itself, Daenerys doesn't directly address it, they literally do not explain it. Because they can't, since it made 0 sense whatsoever for her to burn the innocents. (And NO, killing the slave masters/crucifying the nobles and burning the Tarlys who refused to surrender is NOT justification or foreshadowing for her slaughtering an entire city of innocent people, when her whole arc has been her freeing/saving the innocent). As much as the story makes no sense, I will say it's some of Emilia Clarke's best acting. She said while she was preparing for her final speech to the Dothraki/Unsullied, she studied footage of Hitler's speeches in order to convey that dictator-like presence. Something that will be very healing for you is to watch the cast react to the final season. There are SO many interviews before the season came out, where they knew it was going to be a shit show and they didn't even try to hide how bad they thought it was lol

Again, I'm going to say George has a history minor and the realism is on purpose. Every character and plotline mirrors someone or something real from our history. With an added layer of George mirroring his own fictional historical characters with his fictional present day characters. There is just so much he did and put into this, which is why I will defend him to the death, he is my favorite literary author.

I think the biggest fumble show wise was D&D already choosing Jon as the prince that was promised from the beginning. Book Jon is really flawed while Show Jon will always do the right thing no matter what🙄 In the books, there's hints for both Dany and Jon to be tptwp, arguably even more for Dany. In the house of the undying, she has a vision where she sees Rhaegar talking to somebody, maybe Elia, about the prophecy. You cannot tell me that was not important to include in the show😤. ALSO the vision with King's Landing destroyed with "snow" was a SHOW ONLY thing. Dany is also a dreamer and sees many visions in the books. Not only that, she's already aware about the white walkers.

They were my favorite house from the beginning and are imo the main characters of the show... and, hot take?, i do not hate where they ended up. jack saying "if arya were going to be an explorer that would be different but why is she going west" or whatever he said... what you think she doing sailing east? literally to explore the world starting with the most unknown. on her John Blackthorne arc. wdym cannon is yelling at sansa becoming queen in the north??? she is the one that has been fighting for the north and its independence consistently since season 6. the stark name stays ruling the north shes carrying on her family legacy and its the best ending for her character? i love her and her ending. jon, for me, belongs in the north. it is where he was happiest. it is where he fell in love (for real not this fake dany bs) he has people who respect him and ghost and open land without politics and all the ish he never even liked. it sucks a little as a fan/viewer because we wanted him to be epic, but you cannot deny that from jon's pov this is actually his happy ending. after rewatching his whole journey over the course of the show you cant really come back and tell me that isnt where he truly belongs.

It was great rewatching this for the third time with you guys. After the show ended I did rewatch it all and it definitely gives you a different perspective knowing how it ends and you see foreshadowing in previous seasons. Daenerys was one of my favorite characters. I enjoyed her journey, but I also could see her starting to turn morally gray. Had they took the time to actually develop Daenerys's descent to darkness it could have been good. But, I always thought she would come back from the dark until of course she burned down Kings Landing. There isn't really coming back from that. I didn't really like Bran being King. Ideally it would have been great to have Dany and Jon rule together, but I know it wouldn't have worked out. Even though she said, "We break the wheel together" she really meant she would rule and he would just follow her and be her lover. Which wouldn't have been bad, but world domination? And lots more people dead? That's not good. I did like parts of season 8. I just think it was very rushed and the timeline is very disjointed. I loved Drogon burning the throne. The plight for the Iron throne has cost so much. I did like Sansa being Queen of the North, but I'm surprised no one else complained about it. All in all, it's a great series, but it's a shame the writers butchered the ending by rushing to end the show. I also kinda blame George R.R. Martin because he hasn't finished the books, but at the same time I also feel like they shouldn't make shows out of incomplete book series unless they know the author will finish it within a certain time. Great reactions! It was great going on this journey with you guys.

I was soo heartbroken for Jon (Plus 4 Drogon too, who knew Jon was just & that the throne killed his mother, that it was the true cause to her death, Drogon broke the wheel) & balling, Jon deserves to be king and so much more happiness & appreciation....But by end of ep i found some solace at least, when i realized Jon was reli being set free not stuck at wall.& was off to the true north. Seems to me he's clearly the new King beyond The Wall now, The Starks have taken over everywhere, i do love that part..But also heartbroken again that they've all separated again. He's always protected the realm, been a selfless natural leader without ever wanting power or things in return. Jon/Aegon was the literal King to unite everyone to defeat the dead (Tyrion himself states in 8x1 "If anyone survives the war to come, we'll have Jon Snow to thank for it. He risked his life just to prove the threat was real") Jon played a huge part in Arya's path & even encouraged Arya's warrior side and training. Jon is also the only reason Arya came back to Winterfell instead of carrying on south to KL. Everyone had their part to play big and small, just a shame D&D had to rush things so much. Jon is finally free now, away from all the politics he hated and struggled with. Going beyond the wall with Ghost and people who love him regardless of his name or title. So i was happish by the end, knowing Jon was actually being set free from it all, he wanted that, even if i wanted him to rule & be a great king of it all.

So much hate, it's like you all thought it was expected of you. I am sure all the season 8 haters will love this reaction. I did not like right away after watching first time about Bran becoming king but after giving it time, it made sense - he is the keeper of all memories - he will be a just king. Jack- why so hard to fathom Arya becoming an explorer? She has spent much of her life traveling and taking care of herself? What in the world would have been a better ending for her? For her to go and just sit around a castle? She doesn't want to be a lady - let her do what she wants. I agree with Carter about this show being a one-in-lifetime type of show. The level of fandom it achieved during its peak was so goated. It was the most pirated shows of all time as well I think. People have mentioned Vikings and Last Kindgom as substitutes but respectfully, I don't think they are comparable. The world-building/lore of GoT universe is so deep. I would recommend you guys watch some videos from Alt Shift X - specifically the video on the Three Eyed Raven, to me it explains why Bran being on the iron throne makes sense. And if D&D had spent more time building it up, it would make the ending a bit better. And now my watch is ended.

the jamie hate is extreme.... up until like 8x4 his character is sooooo good. one of my favorites. really morally gray, yes. but those are the characters i always love most. i would have preferred if he killed cersei. i think the jon & dany romance was so rushed and not convincing in the show that him killing her that way didnt make me feel that sad for him... jamie and cersei should have been the "forced to kill the woman you love" situation. then again, from episode 1 he was doing awful things to protect/be with cersei and his love for her vs duty/honor have been his conflicting driving forces the entire show. in the end love won out.. he died in the arms of the woman he loved. i dont love it but it makes sense.

I stand by the fact that either Cersei will be Mad Queen in the books, there's too many foreshadowing for that not to happen or Jon will become Mad King, he literally has more chance of becoming one than Dany. He's ambitious, he wants to be in position of power. He fantasized about taking Robb's inheritance, even dreamed about beheading him. Obviously Jon wouldn't actually do anything to Robb. His resurrection in the books won't bring anything good.
