2024-10-13 20:06:32 +0000 UTCWhen I started one piece, I never hated or even disliked Usopp. Every reaction he had to danger, I was thinking the same thing. He’s so relatable like why would we leave the safety of this boat?? Yes he’s a straw hat pirate but at the same time, he’s just a normal guy who wants adventure and he really is trying to help in ways he can. And when he can’t, the others pick up the slack. Granted I’ve only watched up to 240 or so eps but this is why one piece is so special. If every straw hat was the average battle crazy shonen mc, this story wouldn’t be as interesting at all. The straw hat dynamics are the best part of one piece to me.

He is smart and resourceful, caring, and honestly, the most normal of them all. People can say he’s cowardly, but it only seems that way because he’s surrounded by people who laugh in the face of danger, when in actuality his reactions to the situations and settings around him are very normal. He’s just your average Straight Man to Luffy and co who got thrown into the fray. He just feels real in this bizarre world and it’s grounding.

The storytelling pacing in Naruto is amazing, but the anime adaptation just ruins it by replaying flashbacks and reshowing scenes for stalling purposes.

Yeah, sometimes One piece gets a freebie, but as you said, they're liking it more so that's something that you can't get mad at. I loooove one piece and I like naruto too, and I really think that when the time comes, they'll enjoy Naruto as much as they're enjoying One piece.

Idk Japanese but I do know mistranslation/misinterpretation and censorship happens often for a lot of exported media from the East. Swipe could have been something with a more derogatory connotation. Whether or not you feel like it adds to the story though, is totally up to the individual. I can understand your distaste for it but I feel like there is an argument that can be made for canon filler. At the end of the day, some Usopp character development isnt too bad.

But now after seeing the whole show, I slowly grew to like luffy slightly more than zoro. Sanji was always right behind them. Then with usopp, I’ve slowly grown to tolerate usopp but def not close to my fav. Not bad tho. I could see u guys kind of slowly tolerating his annoying personality over time maybe.

Look up and research where the canon Calm Belt is explained in Episode 55 since that episode is part of a filler arc. Then look up where the canon part starts in episode 61, it should be when the bumper with the characters’ theme song plays. You should be good if you do that when you get to episode 62 with context. Theres no way you guys are gonna watch and react to that filler arc of Kid Dany Targaryen and her old grandpa dragon. I would be genuinely surprised if you do tho, it’s an alright filler arc imo.

Kinda like how strong people don't seem as strong until the "average" person is shown. Like how brave people don't seem as epic until the "cowards" have their moments. I'd almost say its a necessity to include characters like him so the cool moments are that much cooler, whether they're from Usopp himself or from other characters.
