I agree, I'm also subbed to other reaction channels and although I enjoy the Gek's content, I've never seen one quite as chaotic as this one in terms of lack of communication on late uploads - but it just seems like an unspoken rule here.

they wont switch. im not hating, but if they couldnt deal with regular one piece for 44 episodes, they will never switch back later. which sucks imo because of 2 reasons essentialy: 1- many people who watch one piece end up forgiving the pacing and actually love it for what it is as emotional scenes and ost deliver an extra feel. 2- even Oda even tho the God of manga, has said he wouldve liked to develope some scenes in more depth, but simply cant in the manga i.e the nami scene that was cut is 1 of those prime examples. Plus they never did any of this for other animes (like naruto) so its like their watching it more for content, than being invested into watching it.

I was hesitant to post this message since there is 300 comments and my comment probably won’t be read but whatever fk it. Just want to say I love you guys video it’s a different kind of reaction that I haven’t seen from other creators. You guys seem so genuine and honest and so chill.Watching you guys video makes my day. Here is my opinion on why I think it’s valid that people feels negative because One Pace cuts down the show to the point that cuts down the flow of the show and loses the One Piece magic and why the series is so beloved manga and anime are two different medium you can’t just copy manga and paste it onto the anime just like how live action doesn’t work the same way. The anime would have moments have the crew bonding with the ost playing it’s like seeing real life friends become closer that just can’t be portrayed in the manga and unfortunately One Pace would consider that filler and just cut it… Filler arcs I agree you can just skip but episodes wise it’s best to keep it as it is because it is perfect the way it is in my opinion. Even though One Piece is my favorite story and manga, I don’t think I would enjoy the anime as much if I used One Pace because it doesn’t feel like an anime at that point. But enjoy the story however you want no pressure! It’s still a Goated piece of media no matter how you enjoy it. I don’t care if you guys 2 times speed it watch it upside down it will still be Goated! Jokes aside, Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day! Bruh chill, no one is putting a gun to their head and forcing them to do anything. The Geks could decide to watch one pace English dubbed starting tomorrow and it’s their free will to do so. There have been many instances where they have gone against the popular vote. But obviously if people originally subbed to watch one piece and now they’re getting reactions to one pace, they’re going to have an opinion on it. Creators change up their content all the time, and it will inevitably alienate certain viewers. Those who like it will stay, and those who don’t like it will leave. It’s nothing personal. 
 
Also I do not see a world where if you enjoy one pace, that you would switch to one piece. If you’ve ever started watching a show in 1.5x speed and got used to it and then went back to 1.0x you know how jarring it is, let alone 0.7x. I’m not saying it can’t happen but I have my doubts on it.

For pre-timeskip, IMO, One Pace is really needed for Skypiea, esp. for those fight scenes in the first half...at the time, I was forced to switch to the regular Anime episodes once the One Pace ones ran out and it was brutal! I fast forwarded through a bunch of dragged out fights and was absolutely miserable until the amazing backstory happened. That whole incredible backstory , overall lore, and the ending saved the arc for me. But those fight scenes in the first half went on forever and was unbearable for me and my sister...

I’m with you, I would not recommend one pace for a first time watcher either. It’s fine for rewatching, if you already read the manga, or you don’t really care to immerse yourself in the one piece world but you want to know what’s happening. I think a lot of people would agree that a lot of why people enjoy one piece is not only the peaks but the little moments that you talk about that add to the group dynamic of the straw hats, and it’s a shame that one pace cuts a lot of it out. There’s still humor, but it’s cut short. But again, not everyone appreciates this, and not everyone resonates with OP humor. There are things that one pace does well, but there are also tons of things one pace doesn’t do well, and the things it doesn’t are going to be very glaring for those who love the original. This is going to be the case for all fan edits. I wouldn’t settle for a fan edit until it takes Luffy 10 minutes to throw a punch - but it’s not my decision to make. I don’t see the geks bingeing the anime anytime soon and idk how enjoyable it is to watch 2 eps every 3 days or so.

Makes sense. I mean like I said I watched the original anime and I absolutely loved it, obviously the pacing in the later arcs isn't ideal (although this current arc in the anime is amazing as an anime only watcher) but it didn't bother me enough to ever think twice about it. Only thing I worry about with one pace (especially in the earlier arcs) is that I've heard you lose a lot of the funny moments because they aren't cannon in the manga. One piece humour early in the show is one of the few animes that genuinely made me laugh out loud, would be sad if one pace takes that away from people watching for the first time 😕

Tbf I don't think they were able to handle Naruto's pacing, at least the earlier parts of OG Naruto. OG does get slightly better in the latter half in terms of general pace but they still get 4+ min recaps per ep up until the Sasuke retrieval arc. Where PTS Onepiece usually never extends over 2 mins whenever they even do recaps. I feel like if it was up to Carter he would've dropped Naruto if he could. Bad pacing seems to bother him a lot more. Although I do agree switching to One Pace rn isnt ideal, at least not up until wayy after the entrance to the Grand Line. One Piece Pacing isnt even close to being that bad up until a certain arc.

So what. Why should we force someone to watch it. It’s their choice. At least they are give the show a shot. Once they fall in love with the show they will rewatch at their own pace and will switch to ONE PIECE. My point is let the new fans experiment with the show as they like because the pacing , story telling and art styles of ONE PIECE is quite unique and not a piece of cake for newbies. If you watched the last half of this video without thinking “oh the editing feels very choppy or they left out the emotional scene with Nami at the house with Bellemare” then One Pace is for you. If you’re sensitive to bad editing or that scene really resonated or added to the episode for you, then One Piece OG is for you. It’s a very personal choice. One pace tends to follow the manga, but it doesn’t always cut out all filler — it kinda just does what it wants and edits out scenes they deem unnecessary. Even the “peak” scenes that you purposely go to rewatch will feel different because they will cut parts of it to fit their pacing narrative. The music cuts are the most obvious to me. No scene is safe from edits, but if thats not an issue for you, then one pace is fine. In my opinion one pace gets you to the peaks faster, but the peaks are also not as high (bc they like to overcorrect and edit the peaks too).

Kinda anxious for One Pace, I don't know who did it or how well it was made. I've never seen an amateur shortened version of an anime done really well. It could be the case with this one, no idea. A film, an anime, a tv show or a book is a coherent whole, the pacing of an episode goes hand in hand with how fights, music, dialogues and scenes were made at the time. The team that produces this makes everything go hand in hand with each other. You can't easily take something out and expect it to work. I can only think of Dragon Ball Kai that kinda did it ok but that was done by a professional team. This being said, I don't care that much, just hope it will be good too. From what I've seen here it seemed okay. It's also a fact that One Piece even early on can be boring because of how stretched it is. Especially the fights tbh.

To be fair it's interesting watching you guys watch multiple different animes from different ERAs of anime. One Piece is old lol, nothing bad about that but back in the day (lord I hate that phrase) this was the more typical style of drawing out fights, lots of verbal recap, etc due to weekly shonen magazine episodes. Mangakas had to build an audience so if a new person came in on later episodes in the manga there was a precedence to give more background info to give these new fans some context. Even for early anime adaptions before streaming apps, you only got episodes weekly or so, so recap info was kind of needed, think about how DBz and even Naruto are handled fight wise. Naruto starts moving towards the more fluidity and awe dropping spectacles of JJK and even AOT to an extent but it still wasn't quite at those levels yet that we sort of take for granted eye candy wise now a days. So it's completely fair and reasonable to feel like the fights are the least appealing nature of OP right now! I agree with this thought and it's difficult even for me, who grew up with these shows and went through that evolutionary process, to watch some of these older shows fight scenes! I would say don't fret about it too much and maybe look at it from this hopefully new perspective as an interesting insight to how a show evolved through the ages and ultimately amassed such a dedicated (and sometimes scary haha) following of fans. It's a journey and very cool to see in a compressed time frame, like how you guys are seeing it now! Much love as always, so excited to see how your thoughts and opinions evolve with the series!

An arc some people consider mid is favorite for some other, same with characters too. There are sects of fans who enjoy and read the story in a completely different way. mckay bringing up good points about the different types of fights that animes bring though. the fights so far in one piece try their best to be creative with the character’s abilities/powers mainly because fluid fights such as in jjk and aot have not been “normalized” at this point in time yet. I do have to agree, after being spoiled by all those epic animated fights from current shonen/action animes and rewatching one piece with yall, it is a lil more goofy and stretched out than i remember it to be XD but one piece has its own formula and recipe when it comes to fights that i grew to appreciate overtime (minus the pacing issues)

I didn’t even like op that much 40 ep in when I first watched it and thought how do ppl consider this as the greatest piece of fiction ever. Dropped the show at some point and then one day just decided to binge it all and got caught up in about two months. Now I’m caught up on the manga and it’s my favorite piece of fiction created. OP does have some issues, especially the anime with the pacing and some of the weird decisions Toei makes but aside from all that I think when it’s good it’s better than anything I’ve ever seen. Btw I don’t recommend watching one pace but that’s up to you.

If you guys are starting to feel fatigue with the show, then I can understand if you decide to do One Pace, but the pacing issues really don't become a problem until much later so I'd advise against it. If you were able to handle Naruto pacing then you shouldn't have any issue with One Piece until much, much later

I did leave a comment defending Usopp for his merit as a character, but you guys are absolutely validated in not liking him. I didn't either for most of my time with the manga until I saw some youtube vid explaining his narrative importance in the crew and world, as well as his role in hard hitting arc(s) later on. Also valid to not give goat status to One Piece where you guys are at now, I believe more goat value is added when all the narrative pieces build up and come together. i get what you mean, this has been an ongoing discourse regarding what mappa especially is doing and how it’s harming the industry as a whole in that it sets expectations to how shows need to look a certain what and should be paced a certain way when not every show requires that. from what i can tell from their reactions so far i’d say one piece is doing its thing where even they say that while modern shows have all that fancy animation, the have mid plot, mid character writing and mid endings while one piece so far has everything except fighting (and pacing) which i say is a win

Yeah, as much as I respect One Pace for what it is, I am not a big fan of one pace myself. Sure, there are scenes in OP that can def be faster, but it doesn’t mean all scenes do, and it just has a tendency to overcorrect. Some may disagree, but it really kills the emotional notes in OP for me — I’ve never cried rewatching my favorite scenes in One Pace. Although some arcs are better edited than others, I personally wouldn’t settle for it until the pacing of the original got unbearable. That being said- it’s the Geks choice, I just wish there was a disclaimer somewhere.

Also, it’s too early, i know, however, there’s a 2017 OP special called Episodes of East Blue which is a 1 hour and 46 minutes retelling of the saga in modern animation. Don’t know if they’re that interested in seeing how the fights look, if and big if, if the old school animation is more or less their qualm with the fight scenes.

Ain’t really blaming them on their preferences per se, I just find their opinions does say a lot on just the entire anime community for any anime. If Demon Slayer did not catch on in the mainstream because of episode 19 of the first season with its hyper-kinetic animated fight scene. I wonder if people, new to anime, would watch these animated shows for the plot or fights. Thats why we wanted them to watch OPM. Thats why I would like them to watch Mob Psycho because of the animation even though I also enjoyed the main story. Like with OP, I know OP is popular and acclaim because I was up to date with both the anime and manga since middle school (I’m old now). But because of the Live Action, I was surprised newcomers are just more interested in the main plot and characters. For me, the Arlong fight does still hit and the moments of the fight do hit harder. I like that they do enjoyed how Luffy becomes a menace in last bit of the Arlong fight.

i love luffy's personality so much, he sounds and acts very dumb but his emotional intelligence is top tier, thats why he wasn't interested in hearing nami's backstory, he's more of a "judge for youself" kind of guy and when he noticed the room, the bloody pen, what arlong was saying, and even when nami was screaming arlong while stabbing her arm, that alone was enough for him to judge that nami was in pain and her pain was arlong. Yo I don’t usually comment, but just wanted to say don’t be scared to voice some of your not-so-positive opinions about the show so far. The OP fandom can be a little insufferable at times, so don’t let them ruin the experience for you. The anime def has objective problems (pacing, fights, etc) compared to something like AOT which is essentially flawless from a technical perspective imo. Some aspects will fs improve as you go on, but other elements are just kind of present throughout. The appeal of OP has always been its god-tier writing, worldbuilding, story-telling, and overall emotion which is pretty much unmatched. People who really love OP are the people who value those aspects the most. But everyone won’t feel that way, and that’s totally fine. At the end of the day, it’s just a piece of media. Anyways sorry for the rant. Thanks for the consistent uploads, and glad y’all have enjoyed the series thus far. This is only the tip of the iceberg!

A lot of inner-monologue and trash talks were designed to showcase the willpower that made characters to beat stronger villains. Y’all have already seen this style in Naruto, HxH and now One Piece. Nowadays the style changed to that of the new Gen. I loved those inspiring spiritual moments a lot when I was a kid but now I prefer fights like JJK. But I think its not that new Gen is better, old style is worse. It’s varied preferences influenced by various factors be it culture or social. y’all would see One Piece fight style evolving a lot like in recent arcs fights are more like the new Gen. Just to share some of my personal observations :)

Not sure why people in the comments have been getting mad, the reactions have been great. Genuine Reactions and thoughts will always be better than ones catered towards the fans of a show. To all the hindsight merchants the author will always tell the story better than you, stop spoiling the show. If they don’t like a character right now who cares, there is a reason character development exists.
