I gotta say this one reminded me a lot of some "old soldiers" I have known. In their youth they join the military, and they are really good at their jobs, but over time they just burn out. After leaving the service, they feel lost and many have issues with depression because they feel like they have no direction in their lives any more. Many of them also have estrangement issues with their kids from being gone all the time.

We don't really know too much about the Elusive Lot, and it strikes me that this is probably their go-to move. "Its all fun and games until the bodies hit the floor".

It wasn't.... The Elusive Lot actually had a scene where they were responsible. But that's a good way for Pirateaba to make this chapter make sense. Just have Mr. Soot state woah someone in Oteslia wants a lot of people killed.....

yeah it doesn't make sense, my go to theory was that it was actually the leader of the golden triangle taking out top brass that might be able to link them to the golden triangle and Palts questions triggered that failsafe. but was yelled at that no the ellusive lot put hits out on them

Just a couple things make me think high members of the Elusive Lot are in on it. The hit list they had conveniently didn't kill the top people in the scam, just the ones who might know who they are. Also, where did they get that list in the first place? I think Palt just got used as a patsy to give the Elusive Lot faction deniability.

I have made one significant change to the chapter in removing the end part. It will feature next chapter, or soon. It was for reasons of pacing; the events are the same, but it messed with how I wanted the chapter to feel as it ended. Thanks!

Yeah, I didn't really that either. If they knew the guys were guilty it would be one thing, but these were just innocent bystanders who happened to get lucky. Also, they totally sold Palt out and implicated themselves in several murders, losing a ton of goodwill.

Hmmm not sure if this chapter made sense to me. Kept thinking, if the Elusive Lot is going to reveal this to everyone anyway, and they understand that people don't know its a scam. Why have bounties made for people to be assassinated? Not really sure why that would be worth the time and effort.
