Hon, no, even if he appologizes, this is so fucked up

Foxy

Alicia, no i'm sorry but just no, even as a teen, this is to much, a better reaction would be to talk to the person, ask what is going on, but doing this for the whole twon to see? Slut shaming her? That's to much

Foxy

Never thought I'd see Alicia condoning bullying. Shit is wild

Kap

It's weird as hell how she'll cheer on people standing up to bullies 99% of the time, but when the person getting bullied goes against her ship, she'll cheer on the bullies. Steve and Nancy had a one-time hook-up and we're supposed to think they have a strong connection? No way getting dicked down for the first time in high school is that good. She and Jon are dealing with the disappearances of people close to them, naturally they are going to connect over that and work together to uncover the truth. "Steve is so caring. Steve will understand." Clearly he doesn't because he just assumed shit and decided to air out Nancy's business to the town.

Kap

Okay I made and deleted a few comments in the previous videos, but anyone else getting a lil triggered by Alicia being so on the side of the bullies? Like every damn time she be siding with them.

The machete/gun quote is actually a fun variation on the original William Blake line: If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise. Folly is the cloke of knavery. Shame is Prides cloke. ~ Prisons are built with stones of Law, Brothels with bricks of Religion. This is from the Proverbs of Hell, or the larger work "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell."

Its not really about them being dumb teens tho, its more towards Alicia's reaction to Steve in this instance. Like this scene wasnt written so the audience would go, "aw, I understand why he did that" it was written purposefully to make Steve a temporary villian, which is why they made his actions so heinous and reprehensible. Like saying, "hes just a dumb teen" is like saying, "boys will be boys" it creates a toxic environment where these actions aren't taken seriously, which leads to more serious actions being taken.

So im gonna join in on this conversation and say while what Steve did was absolute SHITE. I also can understand where the man is coming from. There's a difference between justifying it and understanding it. I gotta say idk if i could keep a "good face" while my gf is off sleeping with the man who stalked her with photos. Just saying guys. Did he go overboard? Yeah, people do that when they get emotional. But christ, the whole one side or the other mentality is kinda stupid. Can't dumb teens be dumb teens? xD

Zeex

Nahhhhhhhhh. We can't be doing the "he's just a teenager" crap with this one. Like that was actually kind of disappointing to listen to. Doing the whole, "imma sound really toxic" ain't all that cute in this instance.

Matty C

omg there’s gonna be so much Steve glaze throughout this show i don’t know if i can handle it especially during season 4 where duffer brothers try and push THAT relationship

I usually share many opinions with Alicia; we like many characters in common, and I'm aware that many of them exhibited very toxic and questionable behavior. But they eventually have good redemption arcs, and we even end up empathizing with characters that many consider unlikable. However, it's important not to end up justifying these characters' bad actions, even if you can understand them from a more empathetic perspective. I think that's what happened with Alicia. I don't think she intended to justify Steve's actions, but the way she worded them (and the obvious distinction she makes with Jonathan's character) made it seem that way. That's all. I just joined Patreon today, and it was interesting to see the discussion that arose. I'm looking forward to the rest of the chapters. ♥

1. Do you think public humiliation is as bad as committing a sex crime? Jonathon took non-consensual photos of a minor undressing, possibly worse. Jonathon wasn't doing "some creepy stuff", he was committing a sex crime. 2. Steve didn't do the graffiti. He told his friends he caught Nancy cheating on him, then they decided to slut shame her. Was it Steve's responsibility to stop them while his heart is freshly crushed? So... like... if one person took non-consensual photos of you undressing without your knowledge, and another person posted mean things about you in public... which would you be more willing to forgive? Maybe you would actually prefer the invasion of your privacy. I don't know you. But this is not hypocrisy.

GlamourGhost

Normally I agree with everything Alicia says, but if you going to hold grudges against Jonathan for having done some creepy stuff, like most kids do and more importantly, he didn’t humiliate anyone publicly, I think you can’t defend in any way or capacity Steve after publicly humiliating and slut shaming Nancy, that’s being hypocrite and having favoritism towards one character over another, so don’t try to defend Steve, just admit it you prefer Steve over Jonathan

David

Agree to disagree but its never cool to talk about someone's dead little brother as a justification to beat their asses, that is for sure not good bean energy. But I do love both their characters so lowk I get it lol

kinonikobii

Its so weird how many people are excusing Jonathan being a creep But acting like steve is completely irredeemable, people aren't perfect and can lash out and do things they know are wrong when they feel hurt, acting like steve is a bad person for that but Jonathan is a good guy because he's just awkward and troubled is insane

Dylan

Having finished the series recently, I am having an incredible time rewatching it all over again with Alicia and... the funny guy with the bear ears. I am very bad with names.
