In Periadot's defense, fusing is like the Gem equivalent of straight sexual intercourse. So when she said seeing her Garnet fused all the time was making her uncomfortable is a valid response to me.

Peridot is actually one of my favourite characters...she's adorable but i can also relate...i find it very hard to admit to people face to face when i've done something wrong, that scene with the recorder hit pretty hard

No no, that's actually what gem society is like. Think like, the Indian caste system but turned up to a hundred. Every category of gem has their purpose and their place in the social hierarchy, and never shall the different categories intermingle or move up or down.

Peridot has always been very autism-coded. Really literal, bad at social, cues, and grew up in a very rigid caste system

I love the story of Sapphire and Ruby mating it hits me really hard because it’s like a metaphor for so many different things that people can experience when they discover who they are

ngl I think I always equated Peridots views as classist rather then racist since they're all technically the same race but the racism part is honestly just as prominent

I am a simple bean. I watch an episode of Steven Universe about Garnet. I cry.

Again.... i think you're reading the whole Peridot situation wrong.
I get it... it's funny to say that is racism... but since Gems are literally MADE to have certain jobs and be good at them... what Peridot is stating doesn't really classify as Racism.
Also.... *No more questions, Don't ever question this*
it is indeed a beautiful line/moment given the context but....
I personally don't think that "never questioning something" is a very sound advice or philosophy.

I do love the little hint of Pink Diamond peaking through the Rose Quartz persona here. Rose at this point was still both Pink and Rose instead of Rose full-time so we get to see some Pink Diamond insecurity and thought process in the way Rose talks. “Who cares about me, you are what’s interesting.” Is something I CANNOT imagine Rose at the end of her life, with all that emotional growth, would say.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the development of a character happen in reverse like Rose Quartz besides her. Starting at the end of their life when they’re fully developed and going further back until we see them at their starting point of no development.

I'm sure someone else mentioned it, but just in case, the humming at the end of their song is the main beat of "Stronger Than you"!

its really more classism than racism tbh. Theres a caste system, and everyone sticks to it.

To be honest, it's not as much racism than it Is just how their society works flawed as it is. It Goes to show how much positive change the earth Can do to them

One bit during The Answer that breaks my heart a little is when Ruby goes "Who cares?! There's TONS of me!" Because it's a call back (well, call forward if we consider chronologically in the storyline) to Jailbreak where Sapphire asks Ruby if they hurt her and Ruby replies with "Who cares?!" And Sapphire immediately responds with "I do!" There are many Rubies, but this is HER Ruby, and she cares about her so, so much.
Also, I showed my girlfriend (I'm also a woman) the song in the episode and she had the same reaction as Alicia, which I find amusing.

That song at the end is one of my favorites and it’s also the song that Sapphire was singing in the first episode that Ruby and Sapphire were introduced. It was like she was singing it like a siren song just to let Ruby know she was still okay.

I really don't like the kids story cause it sounds like Alicia is judging literal infants or their parents for them trying to use logical deduction. "My skin get darker when I'm dirty, they're skin is always dark they must always be dirty". It's wrong but it's literally the opposite of racism because they think you are the same race as them which also means their parents couldn't have taught them to be racist. If they kept doing it or said your race was dirty this comment is wrong and can be deleted but otherwise.

I thought it would just be the previous episode but once again, it's not social constructs or a caste system (entirely) gems are designed both in mind and in physicality to serve a purpose. While they can do (almost) anything they will always be better for their designed purpose because their power and physicality were made for it. Saying it's a race thing really sends really uncomfortable implications.

Until now, the real-world racial implications never once occurred to me. I tend to miss a lot of things like that in shows and reality both.

Clod isn't a slur, . . . kinda? It's an actual English word that means "a stupid person" but it COULD also mean "a lump of dirt/ clay" and since they are "rock people" I guess that could be considered racist?
