I havent seen dexter before but my thought process on harry is he tried to save both but brian refused to leave his mom so he grabbed dexter walked out and yelled get in there. He realised brian was aware of everything that happened and an institution was his best hope. He obviously loves dexter otherwise dexter would have been shipped off the moment he killed puppies. Not sure if harry did the right or wrong thing aiming dexter at other evil rather than a rubber room but we will see Amazing reactions so far

Every bit of defense that Paul may have is easily disproven, circumstantial, or relies on assuming the absolute best of Paul, who is on record for many repeat offenses across the board, and the absolute worst of Rita, who is a quiet little sweetheart who wouldn't hurt a fly. And we're suppose to assume that Paul had a strong case? Oh, and the AA sponsor showing up to speak for Paul? Great job pal! I'm sure the crossfading was medicinal. The whole thing stretches disbelief to the breaking point all for some additional drama to fill in the space with unnecessary filler.

Not saying Harry was perfect, far from it; having your son repress his trauma and training him to focus his urges "for good" instead of actually getting him help isn't exactly father of the year material. But for Brian, Harry was just the "bad man" who took his brother away from him. I'd say it's best to hold off on judging Harry until you're caught up. It's just like Pons said: if Harry was THAT cold and didn't actually love Dexter, he would have put him into foster care or a psych ward the moment he found the pet cemetery Dexter had made as a kid. Also, fun fact: in the books the series is based on, the story differs a bit, infact it's so different that Dexter doesn't kill Brian in the end, and they stay in touch in the sequel books.

If you feel like giving up on the show, I'd ask that you at least wait until the end of season 4. I won't say why, but I really don't want this show to be dropped until then at the earliest lol.

If you recall Harry had her go to the shipping container which explains the guilt and incessant need Harry has in protecting Dexter, because in a fucked up way Harry led to both Dexter's trauma but also later on he became Dexter's morale compass
