start at season 1; there's some bonus jokes if you watch subbed but regardless of dub or sub lines will be altered due to localization and copyright. If you don't really care about the bonus jokes then I'd just do dub. there's spin offs but the only JOJO movies are from different series that has nothing to do with the anime your beings asked to watch.

The one from the 80s, which I think you checked out once is not the one you want. That adaptations super incomplete and different from what most people would expect you to react to. You want to start with season 1 of the adaptation that started in 2012. The first part of season one is sometimes called Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: The Phantom Blood depending on where you find it.

Somebody knowledge me up. I'm going to try out JoJo, YuYu again, and a third series to be decided soon. I'll try all 3 for a month and see what the views look like.
