I'm not sure if babies need that much medical care? I was gonna say "they got by without it in the past" but infant mortality rates were huge in the past xD Newborns needing to see a doctor might be a US cultural thing? My mum always says it's strange babies are kept in hospital when she sees it in US media, but I dunno if she's trustworthy >_<
