The question itself is flawed. By virtue of their being displayed, we have confirmation that they gain weight. A more accurate question would be: "Should their gain be through direct player input, or should their gain be through an intermediary?" I argue the latter, given that additional characters, who in this case have no plot significance, would strain the existing in-game economy more. Additionally, if progressed by direct player involvement, this disincentivises players from interacting with the system these characters may have already been associated with.

As a fellow writer of wg fic I always find myself wanting to introduce new characters to my stories, the early pounds are always the easiest and most enjoyable for me to write.
