State of the Serial - August 2025

Another month, another three chapters done, so that means it's time for another State of the Serial. I'll be talking about this arc's reception, my patreon, and future plans, in that order!

Arc 3

3.3 is out for the public, 3.9 is out for Patrons. Overall, reception has been quite positive! People seem to love Verity, which is great, because she's sticking around for the foreseeable future. I admit, I didn't predict that the majority of feedback I'd be getting would be about her!

This is quite encouraging, though. Arc 3 is the arc I was in the midst of writing when TDoC released to the public, a time when I was losing confidence in my own writing and starting to worry about the story's eventual reception. Y'all gave me a lot of motivation, and the input I got helped me enhance the narrative overall. It's a big step up in terms of effort, and hopefully in quality!

Anyways, Arc 3 runs all the way up to 3.20. Longest arc by far, and arc 4 isn't likely to get anywhere near as long, so it may stay that way for a while! Lots of action, more than a splash of tension, and a little sprinkle of horror, as a treat. As for how long it'll run temporally?

For the public, Arc 3, Chapter 20, will be released mid-January 2026.

For Patrons? Mid-November 2025, at current pace. Maybe sooner if I get a bigger backlog!

Gosh. That's... a lot of time, and it's all thanks to those supporting me.

To everyone supporting me: thank you so, so much for your support. Genuinely. At the time of writing, Drake makes 130 dollars a month, and it's lovely that anyone's willing to pay me money to write gay lizard words.

Unfortunately, Drake takes... a lot of my time. So this is a notice that there might be a longer break after arc 3 wraps up on Patreon. Add on the Q&A and I'll have about a month to reboot my brain. The public will also experience the same break when arc 3 wraps up for them, btw.

Buuut! I'm putting the Patreon money I do get to a good cause: hot girl art. Art of Elizabeth Tousavon has been commissioned from Grimmjeow, so keep an eye out for that! There's also a bit more art coming over time, and I'll put out a poll when I've got a commission slot lined up!

As for other plans? Well, if the Patreon hits 300 a month, I'm going to add even more chapters. 3, maybe 6, so one or two months of extra content. Fingers crossed!

Future Plans

My current goal is to reach 800 words a day for my writing, and eventually a thousand. Should that happen, I could maybe even hit two chapters a week, allowing me to write Drake faster. Or maybe...

A second story. I have this whole thing planned out, a gang of queer girls killing demons on their way to kill one girl's fascist asshole of a dad. Modern day, too, so I'd get to do weird referency stuff and have phones. Ya know, fun stuff! Also I just think a girl hitting demons with a baseball bat would kick so much butt.

There's also another story in the works, albeit further back in the queue. A much, much bigger one— the story of the Hero and the Emperor, and how things led to their mutual demise. Politics, intrigue, war, philosophy, and... ehe, a lot of things I'm not really prepared to write on the scale the Hero's story demands. But I'm getting there! Expect to here random updates on both of these stories during future State of the Serials.

Conclusion

Thank you all for coming along with me on this story. For reading, for engaging, and for some of you, paying me to write more. Goodness. The Drake of Craumont is a story I remain excited to tell, and I will finish it. That's a promise.
