Update 10/20/22: The Ham! (walkthrough)

Hey! I started a new job this month, and it's been a bit of an adjustment.  But it's a better job than my last one, so... I can't complain, even if the hours are less favourable!

This time, I thought I'd go over part of the Ham, the dungeon/area you're dropped off into at the start of Phase 3!

This will somewhat spoil the experience, but I figure it'd be good to show off the most obvious new 'content.'

So, assuming you left a save in your cell, there is a now a thingy. Interacting with it will progress the story.

The player character will give herself a slight pep talk, to perk herself up after the downer that is getting oneself thrown into the Ham, after which an NPC appears...

Note that for demo purposes, I'm using a Cult route, and Kui's face will be skinny in text boxes, because testing has her in her starting parameters...

Except that she's the big, because I needed that for scale purposes. Anyway...

Nice! Looks like there won't be any drama after all--

oh. Never mind.

The Bulshinka sisters eat your would-be rescuer and waddle off, earning your ire and also taking the Pardon meant to get you out, solely out of spite, as it doesn't apply to blondes.

Leaving your cell through the door the Bulshinkas didn't go through, you find yourself in a little courtyard.

...The way's blocked off by a guard, though, so you should have gone the other way regardless.

(This side-path is just to show the player the presence of an extra area).

Go through the correct exit this time, and you're greeted to an intercom announcement:

It's the Warden's fat, fat face! Sure, it doesn't make sense neccesarily to get her portrait now, but I figure I've made people wait for ultra fats long enough.

Her threat doesn't apply to the player, or anything (although perhaps it should???); it's really just there to show how far things have escalated in the world, and also how utterly fucked the Ham is.

A sympathetic inmate offers to help fight the Bulshinkas. I'm still figuring out the logic of it, though. Obviously, if you want, you can just eat them all and try and fight them without help.

In another cell, you're introduced to pushable immobile inmates, to block vents and open up progress. I don't do enough with it, in hindsight, but it's actually quite irritating to implement.

Blocking the vents causes pipes to burst, leading to:

This removes two guards, giving you access to both the previous blocked off courtyard, and more of the Block on the primary path.

In here is the Block Commissary, where you can buy healing items and food, if you want, from the woman in the upper left. In the upper right is the new Skill Vendor bot. They're quite big now, aren't they?

The purple haired inmate has a quest for you; complete it, and she'll open this fence, connecting the courtyard and the rest of the Ham. Otherwise, it's a bit of a walk to go from one side to the other.

The courtyard has more NPCs to talk to or eat, as well as a cell you can visit.

If you have a certain Expa executive, you'll get a bonus scene after...

To finish things up...

...Why yes, I did make special 'naked inmate' sprites just for the shower. Because seeing them clothed bothered me way, way too much.

And lastly, here's one of the new enemies, the upgraded Belly-element inmate! Her size makes her an awkward fit on the battle screen.

(here's what she looked like before, if you don't remember)

Her bigger version seems to be less than thrilled about her circumstances, though that won't stop her from picking a fight with you!

I'll show the rest of the dungeon next time! Thanks for your support!
