I really love the friendship between Marten and Dora.

Not charming: If overhead lines are to be replaced, somebody actually has to pay for it, and no one ever wants to.

Ursus Ridens

^not Freudian at all. Also, from the Doylist perspective they do have the same creator, at least.

Mad Marie

The resemblance has been noted a few times. Like here: https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=436

Peter Jensen

Dora isn't known for keeping secrets.

Jim Feldman

@Randall Norman Pick: Agreed. Also any area that can get any form of thunderstorm (which definitely includes hurricanes, tornadoes, and tsunamis, for any who have not experienced them). However, if they are instead overhead decorative lines, then they could still be charming even in an area that can get ice.

Some Ed

Marten and Dora really look like they could be related.

The World Famous Chocomerican

Everyone talking about how cute the interaction with, I just want to know what happened to the H in the bottom text

Solomon Garland

Was coming here to say this. Great comic.

Flounder

That pensive happy look on Marten's face in panel 4 -- that's a good sign in life, if you're making a face like that.

Yonatan Zunger

Love this little moment between friends who are also exes.

@Stephen Wells, notice the transformer cans mounted near the top of the power poles. Those are used to change the line voltage down to the 120 / 240 volts that the homes use.

Wayne Farmer

Dora is a really good friend.

Hugh Eckert

The power grid is deeply embedded legacy technology.

Hugh Eckert

Those are overhead soup delivery tubes.

Diptych

If QC can have AI fully integrated (more or less) into society, why not dirigibles?

Thomas A. Dennis

Charming is a weird way to put it for overhead power lines in any area that can get ice

Randall Norman Pick

He got mad

I feel noticed. I could write VOLUMES on this, but here's the TL;DR of the TL;DR. 99% of my music intake is still digital, but I love the occasion to play through side B of "Ah Via Musicom" at the end of a day.

I think they're overhead phone lines? Probably under a preservation order to maintain the historic look of the streets :)

Stephen Wells

'never beard from again' didn't read well

jimbo

In our world with wireless online streaming of basically any media to our pocket supercomputers, we still have people enjoying music on analog pressed media through tube-amps. Sometimes style trumps function, and presumably people found the overhead power lines quaint and charming.

Peter Jensen

What's up with the h In the bottom text

Grollo

In Marten's world, even when space stations, invisible spaceships, and sentient humanoid robot soldiers exist, Northampton will still have overhead power lines.
