As a father myself, I too would be worried why my daughter needs a security detail.

Not actually talking with the hand, but using the hand as a visual indicator that "I'm on a call right now" rather than muttering like a malfunctioning viral carrier - a way to keep the meat-people from getting too weirded out. She might have learned that trick in therapy.
