Fair joke, my cousin got knee surgery a few years agoand the nurses wrote "NOT THIS LEG" in sharpie on the healthy one.

It predates the Matrix by quite a while. My mother used that line when dealing with her dyslexic eldest son (which would be me).

Honestly I like that doctors are humble enough to do that. There was a story floating around about a teenage kid who was having an operation like that and he wrote "yes" and "no" on the appropriate legs, then started fucking around and writing "not here either" or "it's the leg! the leg!!" or whatnot all over his body, he even got his mom to turn him over and write, like, "what are you even doing here? turn me over" on his back and stuff, and the doctors told him after that the operation was delayed for half an hour because they couldn't stop laughing
