Just So We're Clear

Well done Hannelore! Dilly Dilly!

Dancing on the Edge of Sanity

I've been waiting for this ever since Tilly first showed up. Well done!

Maurice Kessler

What's interesting to me here is that (Hannelore's mother's) shocked, frightened-looking reaction makes me think she might actually *not* be a (clinical) sociopath.

Geo (Overand)

There's having a laugh about the spiders in the basement and then there's real talk.

She's got Station to defend her from her mother if necessary...

Gemma Hentsch

I hope this doesn't blow up in Hanner's face. Whatever happens I'm glad she did this. Her mom is right out of a Hostel movie.

Unanimous D

I feel this is unfair to pigs.

Marie

Whoa. And Hanners lays down the law. She's come a long way. I wonder if she even realises that she made firm physical contact with her mother then. I remember when she used to freak out at everything.

Ack

YES!

Being enraged tends to make these kinds of things easier. You throw up afterwards, rather than leading up to it. At least in my experience.

Cha0sniper

WHOAAAAaaaaaa good job, Hannelore!

LJ

Way to go Hanners!! <3

Mish L.

Wonderful!!

Wild Card

*claps*

Onedavewreckingcrew

Fantastic.

J.M. Hall

Funnily enough, I was struck by how unalike they look. The forehead, the nose, the chin - aside from the hair, Hanners looks much more like her dad than her mum.

Diptych

"Pig?" I believe the word, Jeph, is- DEPLORABLE.

Peter McDevitt

Definitely her mother’s daughter.

Philip D Jones

I'm not as worried about that as you are. Take a look at her in that last panel. HannersMom is in total shock.

The only thing I’m worried about is what, if anything, Hanners’ mom will say as Hanners storms out.

Will Weaver

Hot Damn. I don't know what shocked Hanner's mom the most, the shove of the verbal dressing down afterwards.

Autistic Observer

OH SHIT :O

Cole Blackblood

I think this was the straw that broke the camel's back for Hanners. Considering her mother's complete disregard for both Hanners and others, and her mother's attempt to make Hanners complicit in her nasty deeds, it pushed her to breaking point.

DrummerGeek

There's a certain satisfying irony in the fact that this is probably the first time Hanners' mom has been touched by her daughter voluntarily in years. Maybe even since she was a child. Hanners' dad got a hug, her mom got a deeply deserved shove.

Leah Shaffren

I guess I'm the only one who thinks physically shoving your mother, calling her a pig, and disowning her is extreme behavior.

Whoa.

Bryan Freehan

"Hannalore, where did you learn to be this way?" "I learned it by watching you, okay? I learned it by watching you!"

Andrew Diseker

So. Not for nothing... we've seen Hannelore demonstrate at least a substantial capacity for John Ellicott Chatham's genius. We've now seen Hannelore demonstrate Beatrice Chatham's strength, will, and capacity for fury. AND... we've seen Hannelore make real, honest connections with people, digital, organic, or otherwise (I refuse to speculate on the 'otherwise') that neither parent has really shown in any great degree, at least on screen. Hannelore has had nightmares of being a monster or replaced by a monster since we first really got to know her... but she lacks both her father's benevolent disconnect and her mother's malevolent disregard. The story isn't over yet, but the monster's way less likely now. Instead, we may be seeing something neither of her parents could have imagined for her or for themselves: a decent human being who completely remakes the world in her own image for the betterment of all. Or, alternately, she may help expand Coffee of Doom into a bakery if the Secret Bakery should happen to close down. Either's possible, really.

Eric Burns-White

Dude, they've reversed that policy already

Yulia

I am not going to spend $1.38 so Jeph can have 0.95, but I will really miss these comments! You all are an awesome community!

Andy Sleeper

And after this she found a fireman at a bar and fury-boned.

Travis Wedding

Prediction: Hanners now wants a cigarette for the first time in years.

Gary Walker

May of 2013 + 5 years.

Sean Blakey

Wow! Thinking about how far Hanners has come since I started reading this comic so many years ago is amazing. Such good character work. Keep it up.

Ben C

Dude, that was my first thought too

Carl

:o

Eric Davies

Kinda makes me wonder if Hannelore's birth was part of an attempt at gaining business advantage? :(

Chris Hull

Hanners and HannerMom are THE SAME PERSON! (Sorta.) Take a look at the exterior: Dark suit, short blond hair, lean build. And the behavior: Blast through obstacles, goal-focused, no dialog with target. No wonder Hanners had nightmares/daymares(?). The Dark Side is strong, even when you're trying to use it for good.

BobC

so, now we know WHY Hanners will release the virus, then?

David Howe

Yes! It's so amazing to see Hanners standing up for herself and Tilly like this.

FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU. GO HANNERS!!!!

GO HANNERS!! :O

Assault? What assault? She didn't hit her. She pushed her.

Lars Gottlieb

YES!!!

MeeGeeDee

FUCK YES HANNERS

I became a patron for this comic. SO WORTH IT

oh man oh man oh man

Yes! Family is a privilege, not a right. Go Hanners!

So when is Tilly gonna kiss someone

A sheep

That last panel, ouch!

Erik Hawkinson

I disagree -- the shove is an actual physical contact between the two of them. Physical contact horrifies Hannalore, but her anger is so great it pushed beyond that threshold. Compare and contrast when she hugged her father on the Station. She overcame her dislike of contact because she loved her father and wanted to show him how far she had come. Here, she's so angry at her mother that she's ready to prove that her phobias aren't enough to keep her from pushing her away. This is a woman who used to browbeat Hannalore midway through panic attacks. Now it's a woman stunned into silence.

Eric Burns-White

Holllleeeee shiiiiii.... Yes. Yes to this.

Mister Cletus

While I approve of her telling her mom off, the shove feels completely out of character and over-the-top for Hanners. Plus there was no need for it here, just the verbal dressing down sufficed, IMHO.

Wow! Hope she keeps the rage!

Phil Haddock

I don't think I've clapped and cheered so much for Hanners since she a) faced the HORRORS of Marigolds room, and B) the whole drunk sledding thing 😄😁 Jeph, you should be very proud and happy that you have been able to create characters that we care about so much as if they were real people, and that we feel so much in these Big Moments that we witness in their lives.

Julienne Ignace

the shove... it got physical... I felt it...

Patty

This felt so intense to me I actually cried after reading...

Patty

OH SNAP!!! GO HANNERS!!! ATTAGIRL!!! <3

Nicki Faulk

Go Hanners!!

Flounder

I don't think that's a healthy parent-child relationship.

"...but you could've heard a pin drop, when Hanners stopped, and locked the door..."

TwoRavens

Wow uh Hanners is hot when she's mad. You tell 'em girl!

Bring back yaoi zone t-shirts. Also #releasethevirus.

Gary Walker

Go hanners, go hanners, its your birthday. We gonna party like its your birthday!

John M Davis

Dayum Hanners, that was frikking magnificent. So proud of you my Queen. COME ON THROUGH, COME ON THROUGH!

Denise Webber

DAMN!

CalmWeaver27

You know, it isn't healthy for Hanners to keep those emotions bottled up like that. She needs to come out and say what she really thinks.

Now, of course, the question remains: What was the first?

I believe we have just discovered Hannelore's second Crowning Moment of Awesome.

Gillian Brown

All the love for hannalore...

Gemma Hentsch

Boom!

Patrick Jackson

The suit and the hairdress look really good on her. I wonder if it's what's helped her get in the necessary state of mind.

Clement Covemaeker

Beatrice in the final panel, staring... Probably thinking "How the HELL did this attack droid take over my daughter!"

Holy shit, I'm so proud of Hanners right now, I can't even.

Ian Wolfe

D;

Gino Arizmendi

All I can say right now is this: Thank GOD my mother was Hannelore, not Beatrice.

To the dark side come. Covfefe have we.

Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Consume you, it will.

Buck Caldwell

...and no longer have!

Diptych

Holy shoot! Hanners!!! That's so omg.

Why do i get the feeling hannelore is using her mother's genes against her?

Tomix

i’ve had to do this. It isn’t easy, and probably a lot harder for Hanners than me all things considered. I’m proud of her.

Vik M.

Oh. My. God. YES!

Lars Gottlieb

Hannerpocalypse Now

MikeT

It's :o

Diptych

i dunno about Hanners committing assault, but the rest of this is amazing and i love this version of her <3

JD

And her mother is now like: "finally, the daughter I wanted!"

Andrew

WHO IS THIS WHERE HANNERS. (But fucking seriously go you, I've seen people have to do this and I'm so proud of them and like I'm EXTRA proud of Hanners, knowing were she started from)

Stoodmuffin

YES

SheepFace2000

That was a powerful shove. GOoooooo Hannelore!!!!!!!

Sian

It's like she's a completely different person. (I hope its not inappropriate but I find this strong, confident Hanners quite attractive, especially with the suit. The look reminds me of Annie Lennox in the "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This" video).

Thomas Boys

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang. Hanelore asserts herself http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2764

Bagge

The phrase in the bottom right is mostly missing :(

ysth

Wow. That must be very painful.

Ingrid Nordbø

Wow.

Czarzhan

I was hoping this would happen. <3 Hanners for standing up for herself!

Damm I saw this coming but not this harsh :O

God dayum!

fizzlefist

Oh! It’s the outfit Tilly picked out!

Go Hanners

Rick W

Shook

Oh man Hanners is such a badass. I love her so much.
