The Other Shoe Drops

Comments

Yes.

DP

is that its tongue or a plate?

Bernhard

Makes Hannalore's less qualified biodonor even less likeable. Not only does she completely ignore her daughter's requests and preferences, she abuses her daughter's vulnerabilities so as to gain corporate advantage. Where's spookybot when you need them...

Gemma Hentsch

That horse is nicer than -I- deserve. (Of course I AM a flaming jerk, but...)

I came back today to see tomorrow's strip, forgetting that it was Friday! :-( Does this count as a Friday cliffhanger?

Mark

Most of the time I know I'm little more than an accumulation of excrement. But when HammerMom appears, I know I am a bouquet of flowers. Vive la difference!

BobC

That horse is much nicer than she deserves.

William Burns

I thought they had the serving tray clenched in their jaws, but their tongue unfolding into a tray is an amazing image.

Diptych

Is Robohorse serving the drink up with his tongue?

MikeT

Nice manga collection she's got there.

ysth

Ooh, good catch, looking like Alice. (Though I don't think "Grove" is part of the character's name.)

Boter Bug

I don't think it's reliance; it's realizing that she and Tilly are in the same boat of being used and they'll face off against it together as equals. (Just, each person playing to their strengths. She's calling on Tilly's strengths right there.)

Boter Bug

Yeah. I understand people expressing discomfort, but they shouldn't just assume that Jeph will be like, "Here's an uncomfortable character who will stay that way forever!"

Boter Bug

Though all that space is why she can have a robot horse butler. Perhaps she built to accommodate larger than usual servants, or pitched battles for domination. Plenty of room to maneuver there. (Plus, likely no, everything she sees is hers to command).

Simran Khalsa

Do you think Hanners' mom ever looks around and realizes how alone she is? The fourth panel really highlights that for me.

Celine Chamberlin

Jeff - thanks for your strong rebuttal of Patreon's planned change. I read your Washington Post review, and have changed my pledge up from $1 to $4.

Hugh Eckert

DUNNNNN da DUNNN DUNNN (imagine the Dragnet theme, my indication that Mother is in for it. I would certainly hate to have Tilly and Hannelore teaming up against ME.)

Hanners looked quite a lot like Alice Grove in that last panel. See, for instance, SPOILER ALERT, the last panel of <a href="http://www.alicegrove.com/post/163216900934/alice-grove-ends-tomorrow-if-youd-like-to-see" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.alicegrove.com/post/163216900934/alice-grove-ends-tomorrow-if-youd-like-to-see</a>

Janne Peltonen

I love that we get to see that mom is still using the wrong name and Hanners isn't. Nice touch to the character differences.

Fletcher Williams

I think a bunch of these comments are missing that shes already relying on Taffy (as if Taffy was REALLY going away...)

Man, when Hannelore makes a snap decision like that... WATCH OUT.

It's almost like Jeph had a plan the whole time.

TubaGinger

Team up!

Meg Taylor

I saw your interview on the Washington Post! I was like “I KNOW THAT NAME!” :Oc

Gino Arizmendi

My thought exactly, Will. Damnit! We'll have to wait until Sunday!

Matthew

Oh snap! My money is on Hanners! &lt;3

Nicki Faulk

I suspect Tilly is going to support Hanners, she IS her PA after all. It's HannerMom who is in for a shock.

Cleo Schmitz

Oh, it’s on now.

Will Weaver

What a bongo.

Flounder

I have never enjoyed a readers comment more than this one :-)

Patrick Jackson

Panel 1: ben &amp; Jerry's fuckin' and cream.

Gary Walker

Hannelore <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1103" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">can</a> <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1108" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">be</a> <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2682" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">rather</a> <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2683" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">assertive</a>. <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=916" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">But has she grown enough to take on her mother?</a>

David Paul

I don't think so. She REALLY doesn't want that... After all, she would then have to release the virus. <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2443" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2443</a>

I think Hanner's sense of honor demands that Tilly be there, if only to see justice done.

Good. Catharsis ..

Lars Gottlieb

And this is the moment when Hannelore overthrows her mother and becomes the boss of Ellicot-Catham enterprises :P

Andromedakun

I was going to say, didn't Tilly already leave hannelore's employ? But I guess she'll be keen to continue trying to be Good Assistant.

Sian

It looks a lot like an Okapi to me… which is technically a giraffe 😊

Thomas H

Actually, only one side… (perhaps I tried yesterday to tell a joke like that w/o the details) One version » "There are three men on a train. One of them is an economist and one of them is a logician and one of them is a mathematician. And they have just crossed the border into Scotland and they see a brown cow standing in a field from the window … <a href="http://www.neatorama.com/2007/01/22/a-mathematical-cow-joke/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.neatorama.com/2007/01/22/a-mathematical-cow-joke/</a>

Thomas H

As a fan of "Steam Powered Giraffe", a horse wasn't my first impression here :D

Jan Gampe

Ooooh, here I thought Hannelore's mother was doing it for Hannelore. Silly me.

Bagge

You know what? Hanners has gotten strong enough to face down her mother. I suspect Tilly is in for one HELL of a shock.

Much anger and shouting to come

Kyle Major

Hannelore's father lives on a space station, her mother doesn't.

Chris Crowther

'Plane' tickets? To get to a space station? They *are* living in the future.

Andrew Mitchell

When you said a week or two ago that an important plot development coincidentally fell on a Friday...?

Chris Luthe

And on the flight H&amp;T can bond over being pawns in their respective parent's machinations.

Chris Crowther

Oh holy shit this is going to be intense.

Dylan T

It would be disrespectful for a daughter to directly lay a smackdown on her mother. Asking your personal assistant to, however...

Czarzhan

The robohorse.

What the hell was that thing that delivered the drink?

Kyuusaku

As far as we know, only the front of the robohorse is in the house...

Captain Button

You think Hannalore is gunna lay the smack down on her mom, hit her with a chair and wwe up in there.

Drakoo Dreamer

It really does.

Lars Gottlieb

That makes an awful lot of sense ...

Nice

Ting
