"they're" and "them" in this comic is still unclear to me -- does she mean her parents? Or her friends at the coffee shop? And when was Winslow supposed to have been more assertive with "them"? And when did "they" consult him on the matter? (Sorry to be obtuse!)

Tilly uses they/them pronouns. Singular they, in current parlance, still takes the plural form of the verb "to be," "are." "Oh boy. Tilly is a lot!" "I'm sorry I wasn't more assertive with Tilly, ma'am."

Gary Walker

I need this shirt. My husband agrees: we’ll need two.

Katherine Prewitt

Ok, I'm dense. I don't understand. Who or what are "a lot"? Help me out here, please.

Bill Robertson

No ma'amery here, mammalian or otherwise.

Welcome to the Jam-elore.

When is the Dogs shirt becoming purchasable?

Dan Isaacs

Need to mod this comic to be an animated gif, then have the image and text on Hanner's shirt flip from "Dogs - They're good" to "Tilly - They're alot"... perhaps have the pic change too, but just a few frames, every so often. Fight Club style. Really bring home the subliminal work there.

Chris Gallaty

Oh lord. If this information finds its way to Brun, the puns will be dangerous.

I suppose "Ma'am-elore" isn't that close to "mammulae", the Latin word for "breasts", but I free-associated quickly from one to the other. BTW, if you didn't think it was possible to be rude in Latin, then check out this translation of the introduction to one of my favourite pieces, where the chorus of young men and women are declaring their love for each other in "forthright terms", as one coy program writer put it. http://www.duzan.org/gary/catulli_carmina.html Also, I love Winslow's expression in the last panel!

Mark

Not unless they're on Spookybot's level. (Other than Spookers, all AI's talk in square bubbles.) And in fact, on rereading yesterday's strip, I find Tillelore discussing childhood nicknames. Can't have a childhood nickname if you weren't a child, right?

DOGS THEY'RE GOOD

SC

Winslow has hit upon the perfect compromise. Tilly can call Hanners Ma'amelore!

NO! Kitty's a bad kitty, NO!

Unanimous D

Are we sure they're not an AI?

Chris Heg

They's the they that builds the boat And They's the they that sails her They's the they that catches the fish And brings them home to Liza...

Also I'm now wondering if singular they should use singular contractions. They's.

Gary Walker

Ma'ammers.

Ma’am-elore made me giggle very loudly. Love it.

The puns. The puns, I tell you!

Ma'am-elore. It is written and can never be undone.
