I read this twice then stared at it for 5 minutes, then figured out that the posters were on the front of the counter not the wall behind May, the horizontal bar was the edge of the counter-top not the tops of two frames of the comics, there weren't two more frames explaining why May threw the money into the air and those frames being cut off wasn't the joke.<br>Then I went to bed and slept for 8 hours.<br>NOW it's clear.

Melon was Faye and Bubbles's first customer at Union Robotics, who needed some repair work because her butt fell off and then became unrecoverable for reasons of possibly being launched into outer space. Subsequent interactions with her have tended to make even less sense; she appears to be an ambulatory Noodle Incident.

I immediately thought of Noah's Ark and they were going to stop the animals from reproducing to have them stay as pairs.

The spinoff comic idea is amusing, but I really prefer them as a non-sequitur. If Melon and Arthur had to make enough sense to provide a storyline, I think they'd lose something of their charm. Like, I never want to know why they need the condoms and how that relates to the zoo. The magic would be gone.
