Dragon creator scenes

Another planned feature for the dragon creator is being able to change the scene/background to different locations, as well as adjust the time of day and lighting there. So far the sneak peeks have used a cave environment with neutral lighting so that you can clearly see things changing, but I have ideas for other types of environments that would be interesting as well, maybe even one that is simply up in the clouds so you can pose an airborne dragon. This is also an opportunity to create small previews of areas and biomes that may be part of the game world later, such as the dragon island with an Iceland-inspired volcanic landscape that I've written about in a previous post. In the first release we likely won't have many to choose from, but once the framework is there we can add more scenes over time.

When you're thinking about different environments, we need to have control over the time of day if it's outdoors, or give us some light source options so we can place lights for photo mode!

i think that the bond would be way cooler if the dragon had like an interactive ai system, so it can talk in your mind, like in eragon for example. if you have a microphone you can talk to the dragon and it answers you in a smart way, much like the darth vader npc in fortnite. i don't know if it's acheavable but the dragon would become mutch more than an animal. A dragon wich has an interactive personality is something we never saw before in games and it would be interesting to see how it develops.

It's a bit of both, and the function of the scene might change over time as the game develops. Eventually the goal is for all scenes to have a corresponding location in the game world, so when you are modifying the dragon in that scene you are also literally located there in the world. There are basically two different types of creator contexts, either you are at the start or in the middle of an existing playthrough of the game, or you are just using the creator to make a random dragon. In the former case, there will be specific areas in the world where you can customize the dragon, dragon creator "stations" if you will, which corresponds to the scenes. In this case the scene is determined by which of these locations you are at when you start customizing. In the latter case, where you are just making a dragon, you can freely jump between these locations, and provided that they exist in the game world, you may also be able to go for a test drive in the surrounding area. Which scenes are available may be determined by which dragon creator "stations" you have found in the world, so there's some progression in unlocking new scenes.

You'll be able to project markings onto the skin wherever, but the appearance needs to be picked from existing options instead of painted

What you described. Changing the background. Is that just a quality of life feature? Or will the dragon creator in the actual game, also be the dragon layer? And thats where we customize the dragon? Or is this background area going to be big and we can maneuver there before going into the actual world? Either way, sounds really good!

Will their be an option to paint your own markings?
