Team expansion
Added 2025-02-17 00:33:39 +0000 UTCIn the past few weeks, Dragontwin has gone from a primarily solo developed project to a real team effort with multiple people putting real hours into it. What has been seen so far in the early access is still mostly things made by me except for the music, but now there is a lot more progress going on behind the scenes. Here are the people involved:
Michael is a technical artist who has been involved for quite some time already, mostly exploring different landscape solutions with me. Currently he is working on procedural spawning of trees, grass, rocks, etc, as well as general improvements to the landscape, and will eventually move on to other world building tools like roads, settlements, and more.
Georges is a very skilled engineer with literally decades of experience at AAA studios like Ubisoft and EA, he is currently working on the tech behind the battle system but is also generally an incredible asset for any type of technical work that needs to be done. It is rare for a small indie game to attract engineers of his calibre, so I feel very fortunate he wants to be part of the team.
Trista is a character artist focused on realistic creatures with a lot of impressive dinosaur models in her portfolio. She has done a fantastic job on the new customizable dragon model that has been in the works for many months now, and she'll keep working on new models after it is done.
Ida is one of the two interns that recently started, who is currently working on a customizable dragon saddle. She has been researching and drawing concepts for dragon saddle designs, how different swappable pieces fit together and what models we'll need to make. This week she also started sculpting one variation of the saddle.
Lena is the other recently started intern, who is currently focusing on dragon customization options. She has thus far worked on spikes for the head with a design and texture inspired by those of deer, elk and similar animals. This week she also got to work on the skeleton and weight painting of the new dragon model.
Jakob is the composer for the game, having already done an amazing job the music that can be heard in the early access. He is very committed to creating an iconic sound for the game, going as far as ordering a Hardanger fiddle all the way from Norway. He has also already checked out venues for live recordings of the music if we end up getting a budget where it makes sense.
