Paulo understands Mike far more than Mike does at this point. Paulo’s Mother literally ghosted his whole family. Not to mention his other relationships. Tess kept him at arm’s length because she was ashamed of her past and had one foot out the door. Jasmine was too busy and judged him. Lucy went to him for comfort but she couldn’t ever return his feelings or affection. Jess and Rachel used him for revenge. Rachel changed her mind but she never fully expressed her feelings to him. He still doesn’t feel good enough for Daisy. To date Paulo has never had anyone fully return his time and feelings equally, he has always been more invested in the relationship then his partners. Paulo is a bit abrasive, but he has always stood up for himself and walked away when his feelings were not returned. He has lived this and been hurt many times. Mike is just to self absorbed to realize who he is talking to and wants someone to coddle him.
