Like I feel you, but I'm also sure someone like Mike would only end up alone if he chose to be alone. I also don't think he necessarily deserves to be alone, and I think it's quite likely that Sandy has already left him behind, or at least is in the process of doing so slowly. I think some of Sandy's dialogue suggests she may have been mistreated by adults or peers in her line of work, which given the world of modelling would certainly not be unusual, her attitude shift between her first and second visits is intense, and we see that only progress further in that direction in her responses at Halloween. We also know Mike keeps doing a back and forth that even for someone with plentiful time would be alarming and exhausting: he needs her, no wait he's fine. When she confronts him he puts on a face and clearly lies to her, no matter what this isn't a healthy basis for a relationship and it shows that no matter what, this relationship doesn't have trust or transparency from either end - Mike can't trust Sandy to support him when his pain is because of her distance, and Sandy can't trust Mike with whatever is happening in her life right now - not being support, confidantes or anything similar does compromise the depth and potential of their relationship to succeed. Halloween should have prompted a major breakthrough, but instead it lead to more stonewalling from both of them. I certainly think Mike trying to confess to Lucy or get back into her life would be vindicating for Lucy, even healing depending on the way it played out given her most recent trauma is around him deeming everything about her worthless and pointless not just to him but to their wider friend group. But likewise, I don't think it would be right or healthy for Lucy to accept Mike back into her life, not in the position he wants to be in or in a position they'd both be able to manage right now.

Nappa: Vegeta! What did you say his guilt level is!? Vegeta: (while crushing his scouter at the same time) It's over 9000; raagh! Nappa: 9000!? There's no way that can be right! It can't!

I hope this chapter ends with Sandy telling Mike its over. I want mike to end up alone. It may sound mean but he deserves it.
