Announcing Deviously Cursed Loot 8.0 - Crime and Punishment

Today I want to talk about the single largest new feature that got ever added to DCL - a complete overhaul of how the game handles crime. Crime in vanilla Skyrim is quite frankly boring. You get arrested, and the guard either fines you (yawn!) or lets you go (ok...), or sends you to prison. And the prisons in Skyrim amount to a sentence to sleep, as you just click the bed and sleep until it's time to get released. That's...not very interesting. Ok, so what about the already existing prison overhaul mod? I have to admit I am not a fan of that one either. The circumstance aside that it's barely compatible with DD/DCL, but in the end it's a TV show that makes you watch your character being paraded through the day, getting whipped here and abused there - mostly without any sort of control over what your character does, and barely any actual choices to make. That mod might work for some, but personally I always wanted something a bit more interactive. So, I thought time is ripe for a new, different take on crime! One that's fully compatible with DD, makes use of its library of devices, hooks into DCL's existing features, and tries to capture (haha!) life in prison while still giving the prisoner something to do.
With DCL 8, crime in Skyrim is getting a whole lot kinkier! If you get arrested by a guard, they now have many more options at their disposal to punish you. Guards can now start several DCL quests to punish you for your transgressions, including Walk of Shame, Belt of Shame, Whore Collar and more! They also can punish you by locking restraints on you and leaving it to you to struggle out of them. You can still try to beg or bribe your way out, but success isn't guaranteed and your sentence might get harsher for trying to whore yourself out of it. More serious crime can also result in getting sent to prison. DCL's very own, new prison!
The Dagonar Prison for Women, Skyrim's worst lock-up for female offenders is where Skyrim's really bad girls are getting sent to serve time for their crimes. No longer are criminals allowed to just sit in a cell and sleep through their sentence! Prisoners are expected to work to pay off their debt to society! Inmates will have to work in the mines, or in the workshop, serve drinks to the guard, clean their cells and cook their own (less than tasty) prison food. The all-male guard also values security and has a deep stock of restraints available to keep inmates in line! And they really enjoy binding their inmates and might chose to use you as a display model for the newest lockable gear! They might see you as a part of the compensation, too. There is a reason why this prison is so popular among guards to get stationed at! There is never a shortage of pretty female offenders to have fun with!
Talking about security - no, you won't break out of this prison by lifting a rusty loose crate. Escape is possible, but it's not easy, and might require careful planning and some luck. Try! But don't get caught, or you might pile up additional jail time for your transgressions. Thankfully there is a pardon system in place giving some inmates the chance for an early release after serving half their sentence! And since life isn't fair (particularly not prison life), there are random events that can happen to you every day. Perhaps you are lucky and get accidentally released, because they Warden made a mess of his paperwork. Or maybe the Warden finds you too hot to let go, and extends your sentence to be able to stare at your curves a bit longer? Maybe the guards like you (particularly if you offered them...favors), and take a day or two off your sentence, or at least spare you another day of prison work? Maybe you find a helpful tool somebody dropped on the ground? Or just some unwanted attention. Everything can happen!
And the best part is that all of this isn't a vague idea, or a plan for a far distant future, or something I just started to work on. Version 8.0 is close to completion and will be released fairly soon. I am currently applying the final touches to the feature and squashing some bugs, but it's otherwise done! I wanted you guys and girls the first to know what will be coming soon, and I hope you will like the new crime system as much as I do. :)

1. Agreed. I will come up with something! 2. There is a limited choice of punishment options right now. Mainly because the DD furniture mod hasn't yet launched! Guess what? That empty large cell in the basement? I got plans for that one!!! 3. Ugh, yeah! Now that you said it...I forgot to add a check for that. Will get fixed! 4. Absolutely! I might even put completely new wings in the prison! E.g. for having to work for the Warden. I like your idea to actually mine ore, too!

Suddenly I understood that DCL have already replaced a lot of mods in my load order, but I still don't know, is it good or bad :) Anyway, I'm waiting for new updates - I know that I exactly won't be disappointed :) I also found some minor bugs (for example with unremovable chastity devices, wrong quest markers or escape trigger), but I'm sure you already know about them. Then, I'd like to share some thoughts again: 1. I've noticed that wardens don't allow me to talk with other prisoners, but if I yet dare, there's no any consequence for me. It's a little inconsistently, don't you think so? :) IMHO, the guards could react somehow, if you know what I mean :) 2. If I try to attack the guards in the reception room, I receive only imprisonment prolongation. And is that all?! It seems to me, that IRL poor girl would have ended up in punishment cell, tightly chained to the wall and with ice water drops falling to her head :) of course, it's only example, I think, you understand me. Also, there's a little break of questline, if I remember correctly: the task to place my stuff into chest remains incomplete. 3. Once I "forgot" to lock the guards' room after stealing the knife - and nobody cares! No alarm, no searches in the cells, no check of all prisoners' assholes and pussies... it's strange, really :) It seems that all guards completely relaxed surrounded by beautiful bound girls - IMHO, they really need more discipline :) But if it depends on difficulty level, then I'm sorry - I didn't test all levels. 4. Are you planning to extend the prison or add new features? If yes, it will be really awesome :) From my side, I wouldn't refuse of other duties, in order to improve the diversity and replayability. For example, player can not only carry the ore, but mine it too - it's possible in chains, I checked :) Then, player can forge in the basement, not only search the items. I'm sure it's possible to find other interesting (and enough tedious ;) ) activities. Finally, female warden might want to play with a pet... :3 but it's too much, I know :) Of course, it's up to you - I understand that you have your own road map and do what you want to do, but I use permission to suggest my ideas :) Later, if you allow me, I'd like to return to our previous dialogue - I have new thoughts from that time, although I'm afraid that they aren't original again, and that you're not in the mood after all that shitstorm on LL. Anyway, thank you for taking your time :)

Also, I'm afraid of looking impolite, but may I suggest something? I have some ideas, but I'm totally noob in mod development :( Before I learn CK and other tools, the ideas will lose any relevance. If you're interested in it, may I share them with you? You seem to be the one of the most responsible developers on LoversLab :) I'm sorry for my bad English, I'm not the native speaker.

2019-03-06 17:07:26 +0000 UTCI like to think there is a little something for everyone in DCL, but it's not that easy to keep ALL features 100% customizable. I think you have POP in mind when assuming that the gender of the guard is all that crucial. It's really not. It's in POP, but the DCL prison is very different from POP. The all-male gender of the guard is more a funny detail than anything. Unlike POP, the DCL prison isn't about getting abused by guards all day long. That certainly happens (I guess people would miss that aspect if it wouldn't be there), but it's not its main feature. That being said, I can see your point. Well...the guards might be male, but maybe the not-yet-added Warden is a girl... :D

As someone who is exclusively interested in girl on girl scenarios, I hope there will be an MCM toggle to turn the whole thing off so I can keep using POP. (Which may be more boring and all that, but at least it gives me the possibility to tailor the genders to my taste.)
