Retrograde Amnesia: Future Structured & Whatnot

Patreon is charging sales tax. Starting on July 1, Patreon will be begin charging sales tax. This sucks, but this is reality. Let's go.

Here's how we're handling it. According to Patreon, creators define the benefits within each tier and Patreon will determine the tax rate based on this and the patron's location. We'll be defining our benefits as "Early Access", "Bonus Content", and "Live Audio Streaming". Since our $10 patrons get nothing extra, I am going to arrange it so that nothing over $5 gets taxed and categorize anything above $5 as "General Support". 

After Xenogears, we're going to do slightly less bonus content on the $3 tier. Xenogears, of course, is a gold mine of content, so it wasn't too difficult to come up with ideas for the Time of the Bonus series. We still have several Xenogears-related bonus episodes coming up that I think people will enjoy. Our June bonus episode will cover the Introductory movie of Xenogears and will be released later in the month.

Post-Xenogears, we'd like to scale back a bit on the bonus content a bit and create it when it makes sense, rather than monthly. What this means is that $3 patrons will get occasional bonus episodes, rather than monthly. 

This will allow us to cover things adjacent to the current season's game when it makes sense to do it, and helps allow us to maintain a consistent workflow in the production of the weekly show.

For example, we'd love to cover Radical Dreamers for the Chrono Cross series, so we'll tackle that when it's the right moment to do so in our playthrough. As we learned with Xenogears, we can do more big-picture topics once we finish the game, so we'll announce bonus topics as they become relevant to the conversation.

Instead, we want to focus on more miniseries podcasts that follow our regular show's format. The Perfect Works miniseries has been fun, but what we've discovered during the course of creating this show is that we are in our collective zone when we're discussing the game beat-by-beat like we've done with Xenogears.

As you may be aware, our upcoming miniseries is on Terranigma. This miniseries will be available to patrons on the $5 tier, and we hope to continue to do future miniseries as well. We'll even let you help us pick because we're cool like that.

The release schedule for Terranigma will be announced at a later date, but we will be recording the vocals for the first episode sometime soon. Patrons of any tier are free to listen to the live recording sessions on Discord. 

We'll announce the first recording date for Chrono Cross at a later time. For those that like to play along and listen live, we'll give you a fair warning as we begin to ramp up production of series 2.
