very jealous of your birth experience liz! i was totally unprepared for a third degree tear and struggled to walk or sit for upwards of 12 weeks. my husband helped me so much, physically and emotionally, to deal with that chronic experience of pain. it solidified my trust in him and deepened our relationship. that was an experience of non-sexual intimacy that I am very grateful for. no tearing would’ve ruled, too.

One thing that's been really striking to me about this restaurant labor/anti-ARPA pr push is how successfully they've occluded the role of spiking commodity prices, especially meat. An anecdote: the exurban PA gastropub I work at is currently selling an 8-oz beef filet for $38, which is a 35% increase from just a couple months ago. We have made basically no hires in that time, it is entirely driven by the purveyor price.
