BEHIND THE SCENES: Cherrywhisker

With this and the Valentine's Day comic, I've been trying a slightly new way of lining stuff, doing a second pass of thicker lines after the first one. I think it makes the lines pop a bit more (I almost like the lines here better than the finished colored piece). I might experiment more in the future with coloring approaches that suit this sort of linework.
Also, backgrounds and mechanical stuff like these tour cases have always been my bread and butter, moreso than characters--I actually started doing furry art because I wanted to get better at drawing cute/appealing characters, which was pretty out of my wheelhouse. So it's nice to come back and do something I'm really comfortable with again.

It's cool seeing rats again. There was a period about 20 years ago when rats replaced foxes as the Furry derigure. I do like the heavy, clean linestyle as well -- helps the characrers stand out more in busy scenes.
