I agree with all of this. But he did let his need for revenge get the best of him. Seriously one of my favourite part in the whole series.

But I have to disagree pretty strongly on Kal “messing things up” - Elhokar threw a fit like a child, and had Kal not intervened in the first place, Adolin and Renarin would be dead, Sadeas wouldn’t have been challenged at all, and Dalinar would’ve lost like 7 shards. He absolutely saved them all, and got thrown in prison for being a darkeyes.
