VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE
Added 2024-08-12 15:27:52 +0000 UTCPatreon shared some unpleasant news today, and I want my patrons to be aware of what is going on.
First, if you subscribe to my Patreon through the Apple app, you may want to consider subscribing directly through Patreon instead. Apple is going to start charging additional fees.
Second, Patreon is phasing out the "per creation" model in a little over a year. At the end of November 2025, every Patreon will be forced to use the monthly model. I have always used the per creation model. There are positives and negatives to both, but for me, it has always motivated me to work.
Unfortunately, with this model going away around the end of 2025, if my patrons do not adjust their pledges, Renegade Cut will not be viable. This news hit me like a ton of bricks this morning, and I am trying to figure out how best to accommodate this.
If you pledge, say, a $1 per video on my Patreon and end up paying about $3 per month because I try to have that many videos per month, you can simply switch to paying me $3 total. Meaning you would be paying $3 each month either way.
It sounds simple, but this change does not happen automatically for my patrons. To the best of my knowledge, you will NOT suddenly have your pledge adjusted at the end of November 2025 without your say-so. If my patrons don't adjust their pledges, then I will make approximately one third of my current income.
I may have to change the tiers. That would be an option I would have to consider. I'm not going to suddenly just start only having one video per month or become the kind of creator who makes one or two big videos each year.
You will need to adjust it yourself. This is happening to EVERY Patreon user, not just me. Please bear with me (and other Patreon users) while we all sort this out to the best of our ability. Patreon claims that more details will be coming soon, but right now, that's all I know.
I am going to do whatever I can to make this transition easy for my patrons and viable for myself. We have over a year to prepare for this, and my sincere hope is that my loyal patrons simply adjust their pledges, you will be charged approximately the same overall, and I won't have to lose my career.
We're going to get through this.
Sincerely,
Leon Thomas

Hey I'm in for whatever it takes to support your work. There's other platforms too, besides Patreon. I'm down for whatever you decide is best for supporting you.
