In an interview, Tsugumi Ohba the author of DN was asked this question : Did L have any friends ? He responded by : βNo. When he told Light that he was his first friend, it was a lie. L could never have a friend, as he found humans to be a very cunning species. β So it was another strategic move from him. Thereβs nothing genuine in their dialogues at all. They are living examples of βmove with strategy, not emotionβ
