God I love this movie. I did an underground stage production of the movie script (that was...let's say "not unapproved" by Paramount). I had an email exchange with the screenwriter Jonathan Lynn about it all. What a strange experience all of that was. And now there's an actual stage version that you can license--that would have been so much easier...

It was on Comedy Central a lot when I was in middle/high school. Then it turned out it was my college boyfriend’s favorite film. I feel like we still end up watching it at least once a year or so.

My aunt & uncle had it on VHS and watched it every time I was at their house. This was early 90's. I did see it in the theater but it was a re-release, I didn't see it on the first showing, and it had all 3 endings. I think when it originally aired in the theater there was only 1 ending at each showing. I will stand by it being a good movie with an incredible cast that is intentionally campy. I'm curious what you all got out of it if you saw it when you were young. I think I was into it for the comedy elements (and probably also a bit mesmerized by Leslie Ann Warren's cleavage to be honest), but lines like "communism is just a red herring" and all the references about socialism, prostitution, and Professor Plum's supposed homosexuality went way over my head the first ten or so times I watched it.

It was on a lot on cable, that’s how I watched as a child. It’s not a good movie per se, it’s just entertaining and campy. I played the game in school (Cluedo in Sweden). I love the actors, my favourite are Madeline Kahn and Tim Curry.

In high school, our little clique of theater/band/AP class nerds could only agree on a few movies we’d all watch together. We had a couple ultra-religious kids in the group which made consensus difficult. Clue, for whatever reason, was one everybody was pleased with and as a consequence we watched it over and over again as a group.

Oooh. I was going to suggest this and never got around to it. So excited for this ep!

This is my 2nd favorite movie of all time, and I'm not at all ashamed of that. It's just great lines from end to end. I saw it first when I was WAY too young to watch it, most likely. Shake Rattle and Roll was my favorite song when I was, like, 7, because of the credits of this song. I rediscovered the movie in high school, and I just thought it was absolutely perfect. Zany and goofy and the comedic timing is second to none. And to answer your question, my favorite is the HBO Angels in America.

OMG. I'm so excited. This is one of my all time favorite films!!!!!

I first saw it as an adult and I really enjoyed it. I'm excited for the excuse to revisit it.

(crossposted from Discord): I have an anecdote about Clue. When I was in fourth grade, I watched it at a slumber party with my friend Kelly. Apparently the lesson we took away from it was that blackmail sounds like a fun activity and we should totally do it. We tried to think if we had any dirt on anyone, and the only thing we came up with is that Danny, a rather shy and timid boy in our class, seemed to have a bit of a crush on Kelly, though he'd never said anything to her. We told him that if he didn't pay us each $1, we'd tell the whole school he liked Kelly. He told us to go to his house and meet him after school to pick up the money, but when we got there, instead of Danny waiting for us it was his extremely angry dentist father instead. We got in a massive amount of trouble and were both banned from watching Clue in perpetuity.
