Bonus! The adorable friendship of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen

Is there any more friendship in showbiz as wholesome as Ian McKellen's and Patrick Stewart? I've been doing a lot of Ian-related research for an upcoming video about his show Vicious, and I just keep coming across really lovely stories about how close these two actors are -- so for this week's bonus video, we're diving into their long lovely relationship, from their roles in the X-Men films to giving each other (sometimes terrible) career advice to even officiating a wedding (twice, since the first time Ian messed up some paperwork!)

Also! I'll have a new video for you next week about Vicious and a strange love-hate-love affair that lasted 50 years. We'll be doing the usual pre-premiere livestream on YouTube; then the live watch-along of the new video; and then we'll jump over to Twitch to watch some very funny gay sitcom episodes.

In the meantime, you may want to check out my friend Trevor's YouTube channel, Media Processing -- they're helping me with the edit on the Vicious video, and if you enjoy my stuff I think you'll enjoy theirs. (I especially recommend the videos about Cats and Mamma Mia!)

My one big unanswered question is whether Ian was aware of the impressions when they were happening!

I have watched the film "Jeffery" several times and always loved Stewart's role... learning that he was essentially doing an impression of Mckellen was just lovely.

This comment is unrelated to this video but I know you've mentioned the phenomenon of ferns in gay bars in the 70s/80s on TV shows - not sure if you've seen Phil Edwards YouTube video "How restaurants lost their personality" or not but it goes pretty deep into the 70s phenomenon of Fern bars (particularly in San Francisco) and while the video isn't geared towards gay bars at all, it made me think you might be interested in the history being covered there (since it broadly dovetails with what 70s TV comes to think gay bars look like). Just wanted to share.
