New Year update!

Hey all! It's a jars!!!


Thought I would give a bit of an update on Nice Spice now that we just rolled over into 2023.

The last bits of 2022 was pretty challenging for us for personal/life reasons, and because my other full-time job keeps me non-stop busy around the holidays... good news is that the holidays are over and things are looking up! Got some solid momentum going again, and feeling positive with how its all turning out.

As far as the game goes, and perhaps this isnt clear from the demo, but holy fuck there is a big story in this game lol! Like at least a fiction novels worth! Tons of characters and dialogue. A whole world with a history and lore. Lots of optional quests and stuff too. It's really giant, haha. 

What we're aiming for is a good balance between the actiony-platform sections, exploration, and cutscenes. That is a balance we will be fine-tuning in the coming months as our main goal right now is to have the game fully playable from start to finish.

On that front - we're most of the way there! And by fully playable, I mean that I can start at the beginning and play through the entirety of the game without it stopping (or having the game crash!) This will be a big milestone as from here we can work on fleshing out the art, enemies, items, difficulty, balance, etc. My goal is to have this done by end of February. That will give us most of 2023 to refine things and (fingers crossed) hopefully release the game around the winter holidays.

Also, sorry that info/updates are very sporadic at the moment... lots of work is still happening on this project to get it complete! I think come spring-time we'll hit a good point where we'll have more time and energy to give more consistent updates - but for now almost all of our energy has to go to behind the scenes work on stuff.
