Heās already the leader after the vamps turned on Camille, and eventually the Clave is going to find out about Simon being turned. If they find out years later, when Camilleās already been pushed out, theyāll blame Raphael even though it happened before he was in charge. The Jace and Alec scene was so good. Their parabatai bond always hits. It also makes sense that Jace thinks this is about the feelings thingāheās way more stuck on that than Alec is. That realization is still new to him, while Alecās been dealing with it for years, so Jace canāt even process Alec being into someone else right now, let alone Magnus. Alecās whole storyline is just his head and heart constantly fighting. Heās harsh with Magnus because heās engaged and trying to ignore his feelings, and with maleorne he hesitates so much because he knows itās wrongābut he was raised to be the perfect soldier who believes the Clave is always right. I love his arc because his biggest enemy is himself, and it makes total sense that he doesnāt immediately abandon his values when thatās all heās ever been taught to rely on.
