Demo: A Quiet Slow Scene
Added 2020-01-31 19:46:43 +0000 UTCWe're aiming to put some kind of new demo on Patreon each month this year, and this is the first one. This was the first song written for the album I'm working on right now with my band Solipse, so it dates to late 2018 (we performed it in a live video here shortly after it was written—sounds okay but they really should have mixed the vocal louder!) At the time I told myself I was going to write a bunch of stuff that's more straightforward, but then this song ended up in 5/4 time with no chorus, so I'm not sure I really stuck to that beyond the fact that it clocks in at like 3 minutes. Insofar as it's about anything, it's the idea that the endgame of climate change is pretty peaceful really—once everyone's gone you're kind of left with a tranquil scene. Anyway, here's a home recording of it I threw together recently.

A QUIET SLOW SCENE
have you seen white reefs red seas
a world at peace
mercy me, you miss the ghosts for the trees
that finally seem to breathe
believe in no sight or sliver seed
there’s no more blood to bleed
it seems the planet is free
to feel complete release
boiling seas, a quiet slow scene
finally serene
sleep well, it’s not your fault
soon there’ll be no story to tell
